How long can you stay in boost safely?

Last week I was on a road trip which involved about 2000 kms of driving. The outside temps were about 30-35 degrees celcius, very dry. My a/c doesn't work, so that was never on, just my vent. The drive involved long steep inclines, and I was hestitant to stay in much boost for too long. Guess i'm scared of blowing something up. For a car my age, 1988, with probably the stock turbo and 174,000kms, is it ok to put your foot to the floor and keep it in boost for lets say a minute or two?

You must have been givin'er! haha.
Well it would sound strange to me if the motor was overstressed in stock form from a couple minutes of boost. Sounds safe to me, maybe others would say otherwise? A normally aspirated motor can be stepped on for a while, I think the stock psi settings in a turbo would allow for the same type of driving behavour. Of course the easier you are on the car obviously the less wear.
