So my wife and I came to the conclusion that we were not going to be happy keeping the car any longer. The car is going back on Monday and I imagine someone will get a good deal.
Besides the size, there were other dislikes that I have shared with others who PM'd me. I don't want to be that guy who publically complains on a specific-car forum how their other car brand is so much better (think BMW vs. Audi, Ford vs. Chevy). It's been great being here, and I've met a lot of great enthusiasts. Ultimately, my wife just wanted to be back in an X5 and we ordered one this morning.
Take care guys

Thanks Bruce! It was great getting to know you
Take care buddy.

Sorry to hear this, but better now while it's still brand new. Good luck.

Wow. Not an every day occurance. Gonna miss ya. See you over on the BMW forums and maybe read why. Or feel free to PM me with the other things other than space and road noise that factored in to this decision.

Best regards,
-steve

Wow.........you actually did it. Good for you since there's no reason to have a vehicle that doesn't suit your needs and you're not happy with......just because it is a limited production vehicle (and yet another reason not to order/buy a car without a test drive of the vehicle).

(and yet another reason not to order/buy a car without a test drive of the vehicle).
^^^This! I was a fool and I'll be the first to admit it!!! But as I explained in a PM to other guys here, even if I had done an extended test drive of #62, I was expecting so much from this car that I probably would not have been honest with myself and taken delivery anyway. I was looking for this car to me my answer to an S4/6 or 335/550 wagon. I didn't test drive my M4 before I did European Delivery this past summer and I have no regrets (but I knew what to expect from the brand). Although I was new to Volvo, I was hoping for the same with the V60P*

Why would you even look at a polestar if you ended up with a X5? sorry but this seems really goofy. And go look at SQ5 or a Macan. Good grief an X5?
No, you are absolutely right. However, if you read my posts from the beginning you'll see why I was attracted to this car (BTW, my wife traded in her X5 for this--or I should clarify, I persuaded her).
I/we looked at the SQ5 and Macan, but not really that much bigger in terms of usable utility-especially with the Porsche. Plus with BMW, I can effortlessly negotiate $XXX over invoice and have loyalty $$$ incentives which helps offset this financial cluster...

Not everyone is going to love this car, some will thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread (me), others will think it's too stiff. too loud with excessive exhaust noise in sport, personally I think it's awesome. Depends where your coming from and what you expect.
Would I buy this car for my wife, no offense Kief, probably not, she has different expectations in a car, she really does not care how it handles to a point, she wants a car quiet and no drama. I know your a BMW guy, you have to keep the wife happy. good luck with the X5.

just curious:

Do you think you would have been happier / better suited with a 335xi Touring or an S4 Avant?
Most likely...but unfortunately we can't get them here. But probably more like an S6 Avant/M550d wagon due to size

Too bad you are selling the car, but there is no point in keeping it just to justify your purchase. Good luck with the X5.
Yeah, that's what I figure--probably better now than 6months from now. Thanks, take care

Can you tell me why you think it would have been the better choice for you (if these cars were available in your country)?

Are you disappointed performance wise or more like size and tire noise?

Only because none of the other rivals (doesn't matter if 335, S4 or M550d) would be a better handling car.

I wish it was just a "restocking fee" :)

Sorry it didn't suit you and your wife, I can see it being a big leap of faith not test driving one, I basically did the same thing with the RD. I'm coming from a smaller A4 Avant, so having a different expectation and need. Good luck with the new Bimmer! Show us some pics when you get it, most of us are auto enthusiasts first, brand loyalists second. :)

I think a larger issue is that this was a car that Kief was buying for his wife to drive, admittedly one that he was excited about and she needed to be convinced to consider and apparently didn't like once it was delivered.

Most guys in here are buying them for themselves, I think that alone would Make a difference in appraisal of whether or not it's for you. I agree with kcir, not sure that I'd put too much stock into one guys return. It seems others who have received them have really liked them so far.

They are probably the best handling car that Volvo has ever made; that said, it still isn't as refined as the German automakers like Audi, Porsche, and BMW. So, if you go into this expecting German-level refinement you will be disappointed. That's the gist of what I'm getting from this conversation.

For some, they are totally ok with that. It is also cool that Volvo built this car in the first place, especially the fact they brought a wagon back to the US.

If you wanted a sport-y wagon and live in the US, what choice do you have? Sure, you can get a BMW 328 for about $55K optioned similarly the the Polestar, but that car is down over 100 hp. Besides, do you really want to spend $55K for a turbo 4-cylinder? I know that's the way the market is headed, but it seems to me that the cars should be much cheaper if they continue to downsize the motors.

Which Germans are you comparing the Polestar?

There are different levels, within the German auto industry...
I think the Polestar wagon is equal or even higher to any German car in its class...inside and out.

Personally, I would have no qualms paying this amount of money for a 4-cyl car provided it gave me the performance and handling that (should) go with this price. No matter what brand it is. I would also want some toys with this price such as adaptive cruise control, BLIS-like features, heated seats, Navigation and some sort of connectivity, which the Polestar covers.

With regards to a fully optioned 328 wagon, it is not really the HP delta but the way the chassis behaves; the amount of grip that the Polestar has cannot be met by the 328 which, frankly, is not a fair comparison to begin with. If there was a 335 M-sport wagon, then that would have been a cool comparison.

The HP is great but what really impresses me, with the Polestar, is the level of grip that it has. Polestar did a fantastic job in taking the R-design (which is a very nice handling package) and taking it at least 2 levels up.

They are asking 61500 , i am sure it will sell for under 60 but thats m3 money for a few grand more
Clean car though

I think an M3 would cost a lot more than "a few grand" if optioned like this V60. Plus, there is nothing in the BMW selection with regards to a wagon with such features and performance for $60K.

Car looks fantastic ! Saw it at the BMW Dealer yesterday .

#30 ·
They Got it for $57,000 from the BMW Dealer and its still on Fualkners Lot as of yesterday.

#31 ·
Stadel bought it on a courtesy trade.........which is why Stadel is listing it. If it is on Faulkner's lot; probably waiting for the check/title before passing it on.

Good morning everyone,
I'm new to the community. I'm looking into purchasing Kief's #62. I was wondering if anyone had any info on the vehicle that they had heard from Kief. I tried PMing him, but don't think he is on here any longer. If anyone has any info please PM me or answer here. Thanks and I look forward to being part of the P* community.

They're usually pretty good with keeping the website current. I was actually at the dealer yesterday but didn't cruise the lot looking for it.

#45 ·
I was thinking about getting this one myself. I confirmed this evening that it has been sold.

Try Volvo of Oak Park, IL #21 in RB is still listed as available. Just make sure that you deal with the Sales Manager and not the Polestar "specialist" He knows nothing about the car and has zero customer service skills. He's happy to ignore you for 60K

Sorry I've been AWOL, but I had put the deposit on it a few days ago and was working on financials. Looks like #62 has a new owner soon. It was nice to be able to review it prior with all of kief's posts. I didn't get it for $57 :-/ but did get the CPO warranty.
