Hi all, I asked about leasing an S60 polestar but was told by the dealer that Volvo does not permit these cars to be leased and that they can only be purchased. Can anyone verify this?
Seems kind of odd.
Thanks
Not a lie. Volvo chose to not support leasing of this vehicle.
If I had to bet, they are expecting this car to have more WOT minutes done to it, hard driving, and track time, than any other volvo. And thus did not want to chance taking cars back that had a higher probability of having had a hard 3 or whatever years. But that's just my guess.

That is absolutely not the reason why there is no lease program for the MY15.5 S60P and V60P. ALG did not issue a residual value to these models, due to their very limited production. Had ALG done that, at the very least, Volvo would have released a lease factor and there would have been a lease program, whether it would have been subvented or not.
They are mistaken. They cannot lease such car as it is absent from the residual table, there is no lease factor available and it is stated in very stark manner (in their leasing binder) that Polestar models are not eligible for any programs other than Loyalty.
One dealer actually gave me a lease number over the phone but then said "come down and we will call Volvo and see if we could do better". I knew then he wasn't worth the effort.
The second dealer who seemed to know what he was talking about said he would call me back. He said no lease.
The lease numbers are so attractive I may just go with the platinum R-design. I'll save even more by not having to to buy a winter wheel and tire package!
I was actually able to pick mine up because the person who ordered the car only wanted to lease. So when they denied his lease the car sat until I took it off their hands.
My dealer here in Toronto,Ontario (Canada) offered a lease plan for me. Buyout after 3 or 4 years was 25,000, can't remember if the term was 3 or 4 years but I do remember buy-out was 25000ish
Has anyone found a third party lease that makes economic sense? I encountered the no lease policy from Volvo financial when I talked with a dealer today; I should have read this thread first and saved some effort.
There won't be any third-party lease that makes economic sense on a weird, limited edition like the P*. If you live in a country where Volvo decided not to lease, you are stuck with purchasing. You can't even come across the border and lease one from here the way you could if you were in an extreme need and wanted to buy a car from Canada to import. The lease here would never be approved for an out-of-country customer.
I suspect you are correct. I am in a lease now and have concluded I like it a lot better than owning, unless you want to get out of it early. So a Polestar will never be in my future.
