True enough. The wife got a ticket years ago at LAX for no front plate on an Arizona car The interesting bit was that Arizona doesn't require front plates. Too many Gestapo cops in the states, especially the Peoples Republic of California.
I am talking about the size - its huge (it even overlaps the intercooler) and looks aweful (sorry, but some of the US plates with pictures on it look like a mickey mouse comic...). We are forced to use frontplates as well in switzerland (which I honestly think is a good thing), but thank god ours are quite descret.
I definitely do not like them, but I like Fix-it tickets and being pulled over for no reason even less, so I install the front plates always. What annoys me is the crazy bracket that Volvo uses. It is so over engineered it's insane. My buddy with the S4 got me Carbon Fiber license plate frames but they won't work with these brackets. All of the screws are welded into the frame so I can't remove the bottom two.
Yep, Fields has been the "family" Volvo dealer for me since I originally grew up a couple miles from them. We have gotten a few cars from them over the years. Nice people, fair deals. I drove there from Kansas City to trade-in my beater 740 for a V70XC years ago.
The ugly part of the license plate should be fixed as much is possible this summer when my vanity plates show up. Black plates with yellow letters will look much better than the current ones.
Unfortunately that road is well known and gets clogged with people in rental cars going to Alice's Restaurant at the top of the hill. It is also unfortunately a well known cyclist route. We got lucky yesterday and the road was empty.
Spotted #46(?) in the vicinity of Sacramento, and I assume had just been at the Davis event. Gave him a wave but not sure he noticed. Thought it was P50GT at first but remembered he wasn't coming up to the event. Cool plates!
That is penguin's #46, we were heading back up the hill after Davis. Next year they will need a polestar class for the show as they were grouped with the s60 & v70's.
The Canepa Cars and Coffee was crazy packed so the P* did not get shown, so no pics to show of it. Got plenty of pics of an amazing collection of cars there. This place was pretty special. gabrielef and a few others from the forum were there as well.
Hey Penguin! Yea the traffic was a tad much in that area, but it was cool following you for awhile. I got to tell my wife all about P*'s and how that would become my next car once I decided to stop driving my VR (I will never sell it ). My only regret is that I did not follow you guys when you turned off, as I was supposed to go the same way for a bit but had my GPS programmed for the wrong destination. Blonde moment!
No it isn't lowered, unless someone lowered it before I owned it. Maybe the struts/springs are worn??
I was actually registered to show my car as well but the morning did not turn out how I wanted it to getting my family out the door. Next time!
Anyone in the Bay Area with a RB P* and a Black Porsche Boxster. Caught this pic back in December and just saw it again now. Always thought it was Rebelde, but it is not. Trying to find out if there is yet another P* that we don't know about in the Bay Area.
That's because that car has a special type of film on it that gives it a Matte appearance while letting the Rebel Blue paint show through. It's looks even better in person!
Someone finally caught the matte beast in the wild.
