Hey everyone,
Im really hoping someone can help me out with this one.
I have a 91 940 Turbo, that i just bought about 4 months ago. i got the car with around 97k miles and have only put about 3k sinse i bought it. Its a REALLY clean volvo, in fact, i wish i could put up a few pics just to show you gusy how clean it really is. Its got volvo aftermarket 16" forged rims, black on tan, and the paint shines better then my 99 vw. to be honest, i bought the car for that reason, cos it looked so DAMN nice!
NEWAY,
heres the problem:
If i drive the car for about an hour, once the car is warmed up, things start to happen with the transmission. 1st, it starts making this really annoying whining noise that fluctuates with how I hit the gas. basically it goes up and down whenver i rev the engine. If i drive the car in the city, after about a few minutes of hearing the whining noise, the car stops shifting. If i turn the car off and turn it back on, its fine again, but will only last a few more minutes. a couple of weeks ago, i took the car to a mechanic. He said he had an idea and he changed the overdrive relay. when he did that, the car drove fine for the next coupel of days. and believe me, those next two days, i drove that car a LOT. it drove fine, until the 3rd day when i started hearing the same whining noise again. Sinse then, ive only been able to drive that car a couple of miles, basically i dont take it that far anymore. Another mechanic suggested that the oil pump in the trans could be the problem, I told him that if its the oil pump, why was i able to drive it for two days after the over drive relay was fixed without any problems... he said hed get back to me... If you have any idea what could possibly be wrong with this car, please for the love of god, dont hesitate to reply. and if you have the time, please email me ur comments at saad_81@yahoo.com
I would really appreciate it. worst comes to worst, i may just end up taking this thing to the dealer... i just dont wana shell out that kinda dough on this car just yet.
