What's up all. I frequent the VWVortex mostly, as I am a VW enthusiast mainly. Long story short, My first car was a 1987 740 Turbo Intercooler Station Wagon. I recently purchased a 2000 VW GTI. I still own the Volvo and would like to restore/upgrade the engine and/or suspension, etc. I have decided it will be worth more to me to keep it and fix it up than sell it for maybe a couple thousand. What are your professional opinions? Any and all help is appreciated.
Welcome to SS... How many miles? and how much will it cost to restore it?
Thanks. It's got 175,XXX on the engine w/ a "newly" rebuilt turbo about 20-30K ago. I don't know about cost to restore. That's kind of what I am trying to figure out. The interior needs to be redone (upholstery, vinyl on the doors/dash, etc.) The engine is in great running condition for the age. It still boosts rather well (don't have a boost gauge, so from what I can feel it boosts good). I need to upgrade the suspension, clean up a few rust spots on the roof. It's got a sunroof that either needs to be fixed or welded shut, so it doesn't leak. Other than that, http://********************/smile/emthup.gif .
and for suspension upgrades I believe ipd still puts out a RWD catalogue.... http://ipdusa.com ... just give em a ring and request it ...
hope this helps http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
I read that conversion webpage. Sounds like it could be fun. I am going to look into that more. First off, I need to get the cosmetics taken care of. Thanks again for the help you two. Any links that are posted, I will look into.
Yeah, I've visited there too. Haven't signed up yet, but been lurking and researching. Thanks again.
