Hi
I'm looking for the type of headlight that is on american 740/760 until -89 to put on my 740. I live in Sweden so I have one big headlight instead of the two small. So I'm thinking of buying fron the US, complete headlight to rebuild mine.
So I wonder how much a scrapyard would take for it. Lenses, reflectors, frames, parking lamps, turn signals and the thing that holds it all in place.
I hope you all understand what I mean, my english isn't the best
It is legal, many people have them here. But they are hard to get, and cost a lot.
These were new, and that is to expensive for me. Used ones are a lot cheaper i guess?
There are a lot of volvo scrapyards around here. I might be able to get a hold of the headlights, as well as supports and trim if you need. I can send you the north American 740 headlights, and you can send me the euro spec early 240 headlights.
I don't think it's to easy to send things that far, and quite expensive.
I have a friends that is on his way to america, so he could buy what I want. But I wonder about the price, if I can afford it at all.
What do you mean by the early 240 headlights by the way.
First the 240 had 1 round headlight on each side.
Then it had a square headlight on each side.
Then a rectangular with crome around it.
Then a large rectangular headlight.
Which is it you mean, just curious.
Ok, those headlight. They are not that popular here actually. Most people here rather rebuild their old 240 with the front from the late 80´s models.
That is the light I'm looking for yes, you don't know what they would cost from a scrapyard? An exact price isn't necessary, just so I know if it's any cheaper than here.
Around $300 is the price here for it, used.
yeah, i would geuss you could get the set for about $50 to $100 US dollars, depending on where you got them from. You probably need the headlights, trim, and brackets, as well as turn signals and parking lights.
As far as the 240 headlights, ive noticed how it seems like most of the nice 240's from europe have the newer headlights. I just have a thing for the old ones.
Its interesting how it seems the North American parts are popular in Europe, and the European parts are popular in North America.
I think people want what's different, but I can't understand why Volvo couldn't use both sort of headlight on both markets, so the customer could choose.
In this case, I could almost guarantee that both of you would benefit from sending the headlights to eachother... The american version isn´t that hard to get hold of in the U.S, and vice versa...
So, show eachother why we volvo people should stick together!
(if he doesn´t want to help you, Volvowagn, P.M me!)
I actually found a set of euro spec headlights in the US that I may be getting a hold of for pretty cheap. But if you still want the US spec 740 headlights, I can get them for you at the local auto wrecking yard for pretty cheap. I was there last weekend and they had a complete 740 front end there. I would check your local post office to see what shipping would cost.

Thanks KKO for the offer, If this deal doesnt work out i'll e-mail you about those lights http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
I looked some for a price, and I think it costs around $100 to send from sweden to usa. But i'm not sure about the price. And I haven't got the lights right now either.
So it might be better for you to buy the cheap ones you found instead.
i have the exact opposite problem. i want the big headlights and hate those two separate ones...
i'm a newbie and i didn't really know those were interchangeable.
i have a US spec '86 740 Turbo. will the large non-US single headlights fit on mine?
