1998 V90 Specs

Today is a double feature day for me. I purchased my 11th Volvo, the first was a P-1800s back in '64, and today's is a Cream Puff 1998 V90.

Second feature, joining this group! Been lurking and learning. What a great group.

And, away we go,,, There was no owner's manual in the car but, I've already switched the new land yacht to Mobil 1, and when I drained the crankcase it contained just a little more that 5 quarts. I have no idea what the required crankcase capacity of the non-turbo, 24 valve, in-line six is.
Can any of you "Old Hands" out there supply that information please.

I did put in six quarts but after running the engine a few minutes the oil was only up to the bottom line of the dipstick.

Re: 1998 V90 Specs (Old Salt)

Welcome aboard. Matey!

At forty years of age you drove a new '64 P1800!

Hmmm... 41 minus... Old Salt indeed!

I am just a few years behind you...

Congrats on the "new" Volvo - the last year, rear-drive in-line six wagon.

My '96 965 will be my last Volvo and will serve as my casket.

Six quarts is just fine. The oil filter has an anti-drain-back valve so you will want to wait over-night for an accurate dip stick view (on the level).

You can get an owners manual cheap (free) at

http://apps.volvocars.us/owner...0.htm

just scroll down on the above and print each link.

Let us know about those other ten Volvos at

and be sure to visit Swedespeed often.

Re: 1998 V90 Specs (gdill2)

Good luck with V90. I have a 97.5 V90 with 44k miles on it and so far it has been a wonderful vehicle to drive. We bought it 4 months ago. It is the most solid-feeling car I have ever owned. Reminds me of my parent's old Pontiac Cantalina and Buick Electra 225. Too bad they don't build american cars that feels like this anymore.

Thanks for the reply George, you're a vast warehouse of info.
Math was never my strong suite unless it had to do with navigation and then it seemed to work alright.

The URL you supplied is great, I had just ordered a manual online but for instant access to information pertaining to the S90 and V90 that spot ranks right up there with "Priceless"

Lone Star? We'll be in Ausitn/Dripping Springs area next month. Turn on some nice weather for us.

Right on with the casket bit. Volvos have literally saved my life twice. Why own another car?

Whatever happens, don't miss it, Cap'n Patt
