My dad swapped the battery on my mom's keyless remote and the remote still does not work. He checked the fuse box but needs to know what else to check out.

Thanks

Re: S90 Keyless Entry problem (volvostud)

DO NOT PRESS ANY REMOTE BUTTON WHILE INSIDE THE CAR EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS.

Sit in the driver's seat, doors closed and unlocked, seat belt buckled, all accessories OFF, key in the ignition but OFF and the remote(s) on the passenger seat. You must program ALL remotes at the same time. It is a good idea to have a fresh battery in each remote.

Turn the ignition key to ON.

Cycle the key ON and OFF FIVE times ending with the key ON.

You have 30 seconds to press the "LOCK" button on each remote ONE TIME ONLY.

Turn the key OFF.

Remove the programmer, key and all remotes from the car.

Standing outside the car with the key in your hand operate ONE remote at a time to be sure all functions are working (press UNLOCK once unlocks driver's door, two unlocks all doors). Be sure the first remote works in all functions before checking the second and third...

If the alarm activates just cycle the key in the driver's outside door lock.

Once all is well avoid pressing any remote button while inside the car.

S70 has to be done with the VST at Volvo(You will need the remote code)
If the S70 is a 1999 or 2000 then it needs a download.
After cycling the key on the S90 five times, look for the led on the speaker grill to start flashing. If it does not flash the remotes wont program.
Try to have someone under the hood physically holding down the hood pin for the alarm if they wont program.
The hood pin switch is always the culprit on those cars.
