i know this must be the most redundant volvo topic but i recently acquired an h cam can anyone give me the perfomance specs on this or the comparison vs other cams? i am installing it in a b230f
Are you sure it is an "H" cam? I am not aware of this cam, there is a T, M, A, and K cam, maybe the stamping on the cam you have is just not clear. Go to http://www.turbobricks.com/ and look under specs then camshafts. all the specs are there
The H cam was used in the '78-'80 B23E. It was never used in any North American market cars, since Canada didn't get the B23E until '81, and it had the K cam. The H is the most radical factory cam used in the OHC red block engines.
I would only use it in a motor paired with a manual transmission. A shorter rear end ratio and lighter flywheel would be nice to help get RPM up quicker into the powerband created by this cam. There's not much point to using it on a LH injection car with a 6000RPM redline since it will make power well beyond that mark. A high compression B21/23 with K-jet would be much better for this cam, since K-jet cars had no hard rev limiter.
