Does anyone have any advice for improving the performance of the 2.9L 960. I'd like to make some improvements to increase the horsepower for my 1997 model from 181 to 200+.
I've been searching for air intake performance upgrades, but would like to hear from someone who has some experience and hopefully some success in this effort.
I too have looked to no avail for 960 upgrades. I have 2, a sedan and wagon.
The best I've found is a sport suspension from IPD and Boge Turbo gas shocks all a round.
I'm in the process right now of trying to make my own strut bar.
I don't know of any brake upgrades or aftermarket performance chips for the Motronic.
Once my wagon hits 200k I'm thinking of yanking the motor and doing a rebuild with .030" overbore pistons, polished & ported head, 5 angle valve job and whatever else my motor guy can think up. I doubt you can find a rollercam.
Might even go for a custon 2.5" exhaust from the cat back.
Other than that, pikkins is slim as they say.
OAO.
