    Jim:

Wonderful Can you please tell me which wire(s) leading to the HU-803 can be used as an audio-in for my Apple iPod ?

Seriously -- If you can provide this info and it works I'll pay you $10.

    Here's an example.....

Pin A-9 on the radio connector is the mute line from the telephone

I'm a little nervous about posting any more info as there's a staunch warning about use of the info....

    Hi JimLill,

Yeah, but a good dealer is giving that info for free

in spite of JARMO's skepticism.... I can see this is the best $10 I've ever spent on car info. After I downloaded the 267 pdf pages, I sucked them into Acrobat 5.0 (not just the reader) and did a quick re-index etc. I'll probably have to play a little with that... it took the 43M worth of download and made it into about 7M of easily accessed pages. This thing is crammed with pictorial diagrams and wiring diagrams.

I'll eventually print out a copy to keep in the car. If you were on the road and had a failure, it could be a godsend for a loose connector search etc.

I'll have to study the CANBUS scheme (which is marked) before I can answer Barry's question.

For something like adding a non-factory subwoofer, it looks like it's easily done, you just won't have the level control capability.

    Regards,

Does he give you a complete 200+ page index soft copy easily printed for free? Maybe in Europe, but I don't know of that happening here in the US.

Jim -- I was able to freely secure the Volvo Wiring Diagram V70/XC70/XC90 which is 247 pages long -- it's Order number TP 3964032. I've printed it and I have it as a ref for myself. I can't remember where I got this from but could have been on my http://www.xc70.com/ XC70 forum. The Audio wiring info appears to start at around page 102. Unfortunately I'm no expert in electrical wiring diagrams. If you have more knowledge on where the audio line-in is located I would really appreciate some feedback. I've had the radio out and there are only three socket connections.

203 files and 29 MB later, I got it. A bargain for $10. I copied the index to my local hard drive too. I may have to use Acrobat to see if I can combine into one document, though.

I think you need to find the AUM module in the dash.

  15. 07-27-2003 03:56 PM #15
    Hi JimLill,

    Find the AUM

But the AUM is only the radio-unit...don't touch the wiring if you don't know nothing about the Volvo electrical.
You will do more harm than it's working for you and BTW...the mute is only for the PHM useable...it's all digital...you can't use that connection to mute a carkit.

Got it in one file. For reference it's TP 3970202 for the S60R. After combination, the file dropped to 23 MB. Index is now broken because it originally referenced the individual files, but I'd rather have one big Acrobat document anyway, so this works for me!

Definitely a bargain. Need to find a duplex printer now.

  18. 07-28-2003 04:58 PM #18
I haven't got the S60 file but after getting the V70 one it indexed right up by using Acrobat 5.0 and writing the file out as one...

  19. 07-28-2003 07:29 PM #19
I coughed up my $10 but I can only access (download) one page at a time. I want to d/l the whole thing and store it on my computer for personal use. How have others accomplished this ?

  20. 07-28-2003 07:32 PM #20
I did it one at a time.... couldn't find the V70 as one...

I combine dand indexed them via Acrobat 5.0

If I understand how this works I have only 31 days and then the PDF file goes poof -- is this correct?

  22. 07-28-2003 09:06 PM #22
You have 31 days to d/l it.... once you have it... I have mine all doublse side printed and bound, it's yours....

Volvo seems to have gone out of their way to make this thing difficult to make into a single pdf. If you buy this, contact me off-list and I can explain how to do it...

A single pdf makes search/find by keyword a snap... There's a hot link index too.

Ditto here on the S60R Manual... I didn't re-index the document, so when you click on the index, it loads the individual pages, though.

  25. 08-02-2003 05:08 PM #25
Not knowing anything about this, how long did it take to download your whole S60R manual? Are service, parts and other technical issues all one manual or several?
    Thanks.

  26. 08-02-2003 05:22 PM #26
the only pdf manual is the wiring diagram one....

buy it for $10, download the cover page only and contact me off-list jpl@vectorbd.com

I read a few threads ago about the head unit not being the AUM and I want to make sure that everyone here understands that the AUM, which stands for Audio Module, is the Head Unit. This thread can be kicked over to the Car Audio forum but anyone using the wiring diagram clearly needs to spend some time understanding the modules and functions before attempting any splicing or connecting of any lead going to or coming from the AUM as you will void the car's warranty pertaining to electrical.

Just a quick warning since I know of two people since '02 that have had thier electrical warranty's voided for incorrect wiring. Not a good thing on multiplex system cars.

    Mike

OK, I see they are both the 16/1 the WD interchanges the names...

  29. 08-20-2003 02:09 PM #29
You guys that have downloaded this, did you get a file number 263? This would actually be page 262.

  30. 08-20-2003 05:44 PM #30
The page numbers are a little odd... there is one missing...

I have the S60 one all reindexed into one pdf. I have not completed the V70 one, the job is a bit tedious
