No difference really between borla and magnaflow

Straight pipes, yeah that's cool for about 4 hours.

Previously, I was running no muffler, but I did have the OEM resonator on. That was not a problem with my Volvo dealer. Got a custom exhaust done last week with no muffler and no resonator, and found out the hard way that is against the Pennsylvania vehicle Code. So, back to the exhaust shop to get a muffler or resonator plumbed in. Evidently, my exhaust was too loud with the resonator AND muffler removed. Honestly, it was too loud for me too. Removing the resonator in addition to the muffler brought out buzzes and rattles in my interior that I never had before, so I guess I found my noise tolerance level!
Borla all the way if money is no object....I'd like to do a custom exhaust but haven't had a chance to measure to see what I need....

I think Borla produces a more subtle tone to the magnaflow.Another option I've been happy with is Vibrant Performance.
I ran Borla on my Cobra and it is insane. Great rumble at idle and Nascar growl at RPM. Of course a 5 cyl will be a bit quieter.
I have a Borla XR1 muffler which gives the exhaust a nice deep note, but look to see which muffler meets your needs in terms of volume/quietness and size. The XR1 is certainly one of their loudest mufflers which I successfully quieted down with a catted downpipe and a Magnaflow resonator. Generally, the bigger the muffler, the more it will quiet. Both Magnaflow and Borla will do the job, I personally prefer the exhaust note of a Borla muffler between the two.
I used a dynomax race muffler and magnaflow straight though muffler to make this sound:

It isn't really that loud until you get on it and no interior resonance.... but if you delete the cat and use a three inch downpipe it does resonate at highway speeds a little bit but barks so much more. It definitly turns heads.

Alex just told me this today, gees what is wrong with you????
I wouldn't have given you his name if I was going to know you already had the rear mufflers off!![]()

How DUMB was that?
dynomax race muffler and magnaflow straight though muffler
i was thinking of doing one similiar to yours, i like the dynomax and magnaflow set-up (originally thought of using borla). which magnaflow did you go with (size).
