Thread: Volvo V50 by Kenneth B, part 2 :)

  1. 02-10-2010 12:47 PM #1
Since I can't find the project thread I made here, I'm making a new one for the changes I'm going to do. But I'll add the old pics at the same time...

That is so awesome!!! ( I know I've said it before )

You where at VallĂĄkra this year right?

    S80 2,5T 2007 FWD
    S40 T5 2004 FWD - Sold.

  3. 02-10-2010 12:53 PM #3
WOW. How much did that set you back in materials...since it appears you have full access to every tool you could possibly need

  4. 02-10-2010 12:54 PM #4
    And here are some pics of some new equippment that's going in the car in the near future;

New amps from Kenwood. Two four-channels for the front-end and a mono for the subs....

Compact size on these beauties, don't you think?

    Audison Bit One soundprocessor:

Dvd-player for the rear seat entertainment that's coming in the springtime:

    3" midrange-speakers for the dashboard.

I will make some new grilles that lokk a little more Kenwood-ish...

    The car with wintershoes:

Thank's! Yeah, I were there, and going back in august!

  7. 02-10-2010 01:09 PM #7
Not so much, actually. I've benn sponsored with most of the materials and all of the equippment, but I guess the materiells including cables cost about 2000 US in total.

I started in a new job in september, so I lost the chance to do so much work on the car. But I'm searching for solutions. I've build me a new routertable, so I only need a roof over my head and the car:

It's not complete yet, but I'll add some more images of it when it is...

man, your V50 really is da sh!t!

love what you've done so far, and I'm looking forward to your next audio setup... you've done a very clean install so far!!

question about the door panels: I see you've repainted them... or have you bought new ones from volvo (since the black plastic trim has a rough surface)? how do you get them off / back on?
(I'm talking about the plastic strips across the door, not the sideskirts)
    thanks!

Omfg, I just teared and wet my pants at the same time
    That is truly a masterpiece....
If only I could afford/build a soundsystem like that...
Damn my life would be set

  17. 02-11-2010 01:03 PM #17
Wow!! Thanks for the positive response!!

The fenders are fixed with two side tape, a real sticky type! But I used small dots of Sikaflex when I put them back on.

Kenwood is my main sponsor, that's why it's all Kenwood in the car. I competed in caraudio with a Volvo 740 before I built this one...

The center airvents are just blocked... I miss them when it's really warm outside, but I live in Norway so it's no big problem...

The attention to detail is amazing, you are truly a talented person. Im not a car audio expert whatsoever but do appreciate an awesome sound system.

I got a few questions for you if you got the time, need some advice. PM'd

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this car is beautiful!

I noticed in looking over the pics from before that your car doesn't have the sunroof, I wish my car didn't have it as that was the worst part of my headliner project and would've been a lot less time without it.

Having a V50 and it's rear hatch (to pull the headliner out of) would've been awesome, lol.

    Keep up the good work!

Looks amazing. I dream of having a simple sub in my C30, let alone something this extensive.

    I had it bookmarked

And i think i just came...

Btw., Won't you need to upgrade the cars' battery and alternator to power all that equipment?

He he... Yeah, the factory battery is more or less dead. I've ordered a bigger one that I hope will arrive this week. The alternator is good enough.

I'm thinking about buying the heico front lip spoiler too. But I have a question for you...

Does this lip lower the car much in compare with the original lip? Now I have lowering springs that lower the car +- 3 cm. Do you find any trouble driving with the lip?

  29. 02-16-2010 01:42 PM #29
No, that's as far from a gti you can get!

I think the lip is 2-3 cm lower than the original one. I haven't had any big issues with the height of the car, but of course when there's 8-10 cm of snow on the road...

    Hmm ok,

And what about the side skirts? Where they in the packet of Heico? Or did you just paint the original ones?

Is it possible for you to take a soundclip or short movie of the exhaust noise?

  34. 02-18-2010 01:20 PM #34
The sideskirts are original Volvo, with paint...

Driver: if I remember to do it, I can take a picture tomorrow.

The exhaust has the same sound as before...
