I'm interested in adding one as well. Hopefully some people will chime in.

I'm disappointed with our order. I wanted to add the backup camera and initially they said we couldn't since I had to order with Nav (CAM2 option isn't for XC90). I then tried adding Nav with CAM1 and OSD assistant at VCNA wouldn't let me. I tried calling the head of OSD one more time and she had her assistant call me back telling me a few weeks after my initial request that it couldn't be added since a VIN had been assigned. This was first week of May. At this point we're waiting for delivery - still 1.5 months away and I find it hard to believe that Nav + CAM1 can't be added, especially when it is now a factory package and we're still at least 6 weeks from delivery.

I've considered canceling and re-ordering but would be equally upset if we lose the deposit and screw up the itinerary. Frustrating.

Anyway if there is a way to add it I would be very interested.

why not contact volvotech.eu ... those guys have a really good solution for a backup camera, I have ordered mine there as well, it works really good, RTI immediatly switches to the camera when backing ... price is around 300 euro excl. shipping

Do you know what components I would need to order for our 2010 XC90 install? I've had the misfortune of missing VolvoTech by a few days as they entered there summer holiday, however, if I order before Aug 1 I can still get it shipped in time.

I know I would need the screen and a camera (not sure which camera). would the one that replaces the plate light work in a 2010 (their description says -2008). What other components would I need from them?

you need a video-break-box to connect the camera to the RTI, that set is depending on which system you have ... put the driver-seat all the way to the front and up, and take a picture of the RTI unit, mail it to VolvoTech and they will tell you which break-box you need. VolvoTech delivers a US-Style Licenseplateholder as well, where the camera is integrated already. I have mounted the camera that replaces the licenseplate-lighting.

it is almost invisible when standing behind the car ... so no worries for vandals

Very cool! Where did you get your integrated camera? I really like the look and finish of it replacing one of the license plate lights. VolvoTech has one but not as neatly contoured/tucked as yours plus it's PAL. Will all I need to order be just a camera & screen? Any cables? Unfortunately VolvoTech is on vacation for the summer now I've not gotten a reply from them in the last few days.

the camera comes from VolvoTech as well, I know that Bob from VolvoTech is back from holidays now, so he should be able to answer your emails

if you have the RTI in your XC90 you simply remove the display-cable from the RTI unit under the driverseat, plug in the VolvoTech cable which connects to both the RTI unit, the RTI screen and the video-breakin-box.
the camera connects to the video-breakin-box, which has a second video-input for for example a DVB-T reciever.

VolvoTech has both PAL as SeCAM camera's ... just let them know which RTI unit you have and Bob can tell you which video-breakin-box you need. As I recall are all camera's the same.

I take it liquidforce you are not in the US?

How difficult is it to put this camera in?

Volvouhu are you in the US? I suspect our camera would be NTSC but don't know for sure as the volvo is built in the EU

no I am not in the US, but the RTI unit in my XC90 (MY2007) is an NTSC version.

To put in this camera tool some time, as the camera was suited to the right light, and I wanted to mount it on the left light, because of my license-plate.
Mounting-time was about 6 hours, but this was including the DVB-T reciever in the front and connect sound to the AUX connector, and a switch to
    switch from GPS to DVB-T.

Obiwan, yes I have a US spec XC90 RDesign. I've been emailing with VolvoTech.eu and they have been super (and very patient). If you don't already have an RTI built in, displays available that match Volvo's are capable of both NTSC and PAL so that wouldn't be a worry. NTSC camera would be preferable as confirmed by VolvoTech - there are more vertical lines in NTSC so the quality is slightly better. I will be ordering camera from them shortly.

I'll also need to order the monitor which I'll do later, am worried about size/weight for shipping for transport later.

BTW chances are the Volvo RTI unit is also NTSC & PAL. We have the RSE and it supports both video formats. I tested with my iPhone and it will play just as well NTSC as it does PAL. I've not scrutinized the video quality to see if NTSC is perceptually better... will need to compare.

I have bought two wireless camera/LCD kits from eBay seller 1stsafe. He ships direct from HK, and his prices are very good. The cameras are quite big and a bit hard to hide in an SUV, more suitable for pickup trucks, but the picture quality is excellent and the wireless works just great.

Since my XC90 didn't come with Navigation, I added the Necvox monitor along with their Navi box and a license plate light backup camera. Finally got it installed and like the OEM look and so far happy with the way it performs. The Navi box comes with a few other nice features like a USB port along with the SD drive, a video player, ebook, and a MP3 player.
