I've got it down to about a 30-45min swap if there are no distractions. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before unplugging the passenger side airbag.

I put my original back in until I can take the time to swap the R gauge faces and keep my mileage original.

Took me an hour and a half, but here is my experience is removing the dash and swapping the dials of an R cluster into an V70 XC.

Nice write-up. How did aligning the dials go? I recall on some older VWs that there was a spring and depending on the amount of tension you did or did not put on the dial when reinstalling, the speedo could read incorrectly. Hopefully the Volvo setup is simply pull it off and put back on.

Actually, it was very easy. Each dial (including the donor dials) had three sets of double pins that simply slid back into their respective position in the dial on the vehicle cluster. The only thing that needed to be reset was the radio, (code needed to be reentered once the neg cable was reattached), and the odometer reset itself to 0.0. Other than that, there is no speedo error.
