Thread: High Performance stereo in new XC90

Hi All, Just joined the forum. I have just taken delivery a week ago of a Volvo XC90 SE Geartronic. I put a few options on it but sadly, assumed that the High Performance stereo would be just that, high performance. I am very disappointed. I am finding the sound to be echoey and lacking in depth and bass. I have been told that the car would have to go back to the factory to be upgraded but that they won't do it. They have said that they would have to strip the car down again because of the fibre optics involved. They won't even quote me a price on it.

I have fiddled about with the graphic equalizer but just can't get it to sound right. I turned all the graphic equalizers up to full and at the end of one journey, even though the volume was fairly low, my ears were hurting. Does anyone have experience of this and if so, what the best settings are for the equalizer? Volvo have been very unhelpful and have more or less laughed and told me that I should have gone for the Premium Dynaudio system.

    Thanks in advance

Well, on ours I found that I adjusted the bass down in the front which meant lowering the bars on the left side of the equalizer and turning up the mids and highs, since the front has smaller speakers. In the rear, I made the equalizer look like a smiley face, then, in the normal audio settings, the bass is about 3/4 up and the treble is the same, maybe a bit higher. The mid range is slightly over 1/2 and the center and surround were just over 1/2. You aren't going to win any contests with it, but it's more than capable of being a good sound system. It's probably not as good as my R's, but it's still pretty decent, for a factory setup.
