Engine number versus Header stamp number
I have a company called Affordable Engine that sells used engines for all vehicles and recently ran in to a hell of a time getting a 70 series engine for a client. When we searched for used engines by VIN# we would get a match, but those engines were not actually a match for the vehicle because the number stamp on the intake header was different. Also, the VIN did not indicate if the engine would have an EGR on it or not.
So, if your out looking for a used Volvo engine, make sure the number on the intake matches the original vehicle as well. Also ask them to visually confirm the presence of an EGR valve...
