Thread: 245 Tailgate Wiring Harnesses

  1. 02-19-2012 02:58 PM #1
Any tips for a do-it-yourselfer about to take on this job?

I've got all the parts (and new hinges to replace the 20+ year ones), but I'd like to hear from anyone with experience completing this job before I jump in.

My main question -- what's a good/reliable way of propping up the tailgate after I take the hinges off? It seems like that's a necessary part of the process?

    Any tips/advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Wes

well my 6ft ladder had a paint can holder that was the perfect height to hold up the tailgate so i used that and got the job done. maybe you could tie it to the ceiling? just a thought. and my tailgate lift struts were in good shape. do one side at a time.
    good luck
