How did you get the 05+ aluminum bumper plate thingy to work?

Knew someone would spot that. The entire front bumper is actually an '05. Was in an accident before I owned it and the guy who fixed it liked the '05 bumper more, which worked out because I do also.

While I'm at it here are a few pics of a custom cargo security cover / shelf I built recently.

Thing works great for organizing things on trips and concealing things in the cargo area (my girlfriends road bike just barely fits even). Originally built it to be used when car camping so that it becomes a baggage loft when the rear seats are folded down but ended up leaving it in all the time I like it so much.

The two peices are wrapped in a trunk liner and can be removed in under 30 seconds with 4 bolts. The rails are attached into some holes within the factory cargo cover attachment points via some brackets. Pretty custom job so excuse some of the rough machining. If I ever go into full scale production I'll clean up my design

The aluminum used is 80/20 extrusion. Great system that is basically like an erector set. Goes together super easy and makes it easy to make minor adjustments for the perfect fit. This summer I may get around to building other small attachments for holding bike wheels up under it or other things.

Total cost was around $275 but with R&D out of the way materials are about $200. Who wants one??

Edit: Just realized this is slightly digressing from the thread. Apologies for those offended.

Just picked mine up 3 days ago. Just installed LED interior lights, HID headlights and fog lights (super dick move), and a DIY TCV. Debating if I should keep the XC wheels or throw on some Arrakis.

Post pics if you get arrakis rims on your xc.

Just picked up this white 2003 XC70 2.5T AWD with brown bumper trim and a tan/beige interior. 110XXX miles on the odo but it feels brand new.

And here she is with my old v40 (which is for sale currently)

I have a couple questions though, the metal clips that hold the headlight bulb in place are missing, where might I find those to buy? And are these cars AWD? I know the older P1 models weren't but I never really looked into the P2 models (partially because I never thought I'd find one for sale for cheap)

AFAIK all XC and Cross Country cars are AWD. I guess XC90s can come FWD, but they are SUVs not cars.

Asked that question wrong, meant to ask if they were all time AWD? Friend has a 99 and claims it's FWD biased but sends power to the back when it slips.

I believe that your friend is right. Just the Subaru is 100% full-time AWD. The Haldex has been worked over about every other year where the response is improved down to 1/7 of a wheel rotation or something like that.

ONE picture would suffice and they are full time AWD.
95% of the power goes to the front wheels until demand for the rears cuts in
This is the way most AWD vehicles work now

just dipped the cladding, it was fading to black/blue/white before, and had bright run lines by the taillight.

before, it was exactly like this photo (this is not mine though)

now, its not perfect, but looks better than forever black ever did i think

for those that might want to do this their self, you will need at least 6 rattle cans of the stuff (6 layers) and around 6-8 hours of prep, layering and breakdown

      Love those wheels.

I was thinking about doing the fronts but it would be tough to match the volvo oem tint. In direct sunlight it looks crazy from the inside.

Also read the brochure today and discovered an optional rear skidplate for the 01-04 XC's

      9496986

It's part of the cross country pack coupled with rear spoiler and mudflaps, says its only $30 on tasca hmm. roof protective rails were another oem option.

Tried to just edit these into the last post but I keep getting a database error. Anyway, bought a roof basket and assembled it today.

Cheap universal basket for 100 bucks on ebay with free shipping. Kinda want to get the IPD windshield decal and put it on the fairing though.

Just sold my BMW 3 series vert. Then turned around and bought this little gem. It needs a drop and some rims. What's the best spring and shock/strut combo for dropping these cars. I had coilovers for the BMW but I'm not trying go that rout with the v70
