Thank you for the great directions. Here is a pic showing the newly redesigned part on top with reinforcement and the original on the bottom. Different part numbers but both are the grey that goes with Offblack interior. This is for my 2008 XC90.

There's just one problem with us driving these cars that is causing that part to crack. We are not at least 6'6" tall.

Our first one got done on warranty. I did another myself. Now I see my wife has taped up the third one.

I changed soon left side now I spot also right side broken and I dont have electrical
seats as I mostly drive my car sometimes now partner but this is plastic fantastic part
selled in hundreds tousands and producers and VCC dont care - nice money as most of
people dont change and go to Volvo service. Sucking vampires party again and again... LOL
And we all know that its not question for 100 $ but bad design of some designers.
Fat USA people entering in car seat first on side -snap paf...

Without electrical seat movement there is 3 screw to remove. First with cvery short screwdriver
handle inside is screw. Very strange place.

Help with seat electronics after this repar by a dealer

Hi there I really hope you can help,

We had this repair done by the dealer but months afterward we have realised that the massager and the lumbar support electronics do not work (don't use these very often) they were obviously disconnected? (Or mucked about with) during the repair but now they want to charge us to fix it since its been so long since the original repair.

I wanted to ask if you might know where these components are connected to the seat electronics an if it might just be something we might be able to check ourselves.

PS THE SIDE PANEL HAS NOW CRACKED AGAIN AND WE CAN SEE WIRES HANHING OUT FROM THIS SECTION. THEY OF COURSE WANT TO CHARGE US AGAIN AS NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY $325.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

      Tools:
      New Panel
      Wire Cutters
      T15
      T20
      2 Zip Ties
Thanks for the write-up and excellent pictures. Fixed my sister's XC90 today, only took a few minutes. Just to clarify, the 3 screws that hold the control panel in place are T25.

Second failure for us so this time I reinforced the inside of the new one with patio screen fiberglass mesh embedded in JBWeld 2 part plastic bonder. I keep this stuff on hand and have had good success using it for other plastic repairs.

A note for those with passenger side trim's broken tab.
Mine broke at where the trim is attached via the Torx screw.
      FREE fix:
      1. Remove the Torx screw.
      2. Drill a hole on the plastic trim for zip tie.
      3. Loop zip tie through the hole you just drilled, thread it through the metal bracket (where the screw goes in) and tighten the zip tie.

      SOLID repair...LOL.

https://www.fcpeuro.com has Volvo, BMW, VW, Audi, Mercedes, Saab, Porsche parts with LIFETIME warranty. Yes, you read me right. Even the wear/tear parts like wiper blades, brake pads, and even this write-up's parts! Here's a bit about their lifetime warranty: https://www.fcpeuro.com/page/lifetime-guarantee

"All products you buy from FCP Euro are guaranteed for life for your ownership of the vehicle. This lifetime replacement guarantee includes consumables and wear and tear items like brake pads, gaskets, rotors, filters, wiper blades, and even oil – YES, oil! This covers every single part we sell for as long as you own your car. Return anything purchased from us at any time. No fine print, no restrictions, no time limit. Buy it once, use it, abuse it, wear it out, then send it back for a free replacement. Even the free replacement part is warrantied for life. For the past 5 years, we've ensured that when you order a part you never have to pay for it again."

"If you need to return anything, just use our easy-to-follow online returns process. After that, you have two options:
Option 1 - Purchase a new part from us, which we'll ship it out immediately (same part number, same brand, same lifetime replacement guarantee), and we'll issue a refund once your old part is received.
Option 2 - Send the part back to us and we'll mail you a replacement (same part number, same brand, same lifetime replacement guarantee) as soon as we receive your old part."

Side trim costs like $18. To send it back for replacement, likely cost close to $18. Appreciate the FCP offer but for large inexpensive plastic parts, have to put in context. Don't like having side seat trim break? Stop dragging your butt when you get in and out of your car. Go through one of these every 1.5 years or so, order an extra every couple years so I always have a spare and can combine shipping. For sure you can repair, done a few over the last 10 years, for me just easier to replace outright.
