So for the past, well since I bought my R, I get a sulfer kind of smell when I give some gas or heavy boost. I thought it might be my cat which gives the smell, but when I put the performance DP, it still stank. You really can only smell it if the windows are down but people behind me get a nice wiff too. I'm pretty sure the engine is running rich which is giving off the smell. What should I do now? I'm thinking fuel filter change or something but I don't have any codes being thrown up. But what should I do to fix that issue?
Well I have a racepipe with no catalytic converter on my mazda. As soon as I floor it, there's insane amounts of pungent sulfur that comes out. Turbo cars should run rich to protect the engine. It's nothing new for a turbocharged car with aftermarket exhaust to smell.
I have a rich code since I bought my R, I suspect the front O2 on the DP needs to be further down, another words further away from the Turbo, too much heat, throwing off O2 readings
I started a thread forever ago asking the best DP. From what everyone says, OBX is mediocre, some had codes which mean you will need a 02 spacer to fix that. People recommended the IPD one best for catted, OBX for no cat
I have a spacer in now as I had a cat inefficiency code when I first got the car, I will try the OBX catless for ****s and giggles. I was going to buy the Eurosport tunings DP on sale now, I don't have emissions test till next june so I am good and can always use extra money, cheers
