My suggestion is to replace the Denso unit with a Denso unit. I've had very good experiences with Denso, including a variety of electrical components, so I (personally) don't think there's an advantage to the Bosch unit. Instead, you could (potentially) send the wrong voltage straight to the ECU and cause god-knows-what. If there's one thing about Volvo's, it's that they are SENS-I-TIVE to voltage. I strongly suggest you check Denso's website at http://densoautoparts.com/find-my-pa...icle-selection and at least source one out near you to get a complete cost/benefit analysis.
That being said, if you do get the Bosch and it works... lets us know!
