I am at the dealer today for a quick fix, and the specialist said he just received an email regarding 2016 V60 and S60 Polestars. Each dealer in the US can order 3 units, and the color options have increased. BSM is being replaced by Onyx black. RB remains. New additions are Ice white and Electric Silver. The cars will NOT be numbered.
If every dealer sells three, we are still talking fairly limited numbers, 750 or so. I applaud Volvo for making more available, now more people will find out how good these cars really are.
"We will approach this year differently as we will allow each Polestar Certified Dealer to order up to 3 vehicles. You can choose, any combination of S60s or V60s and exterior color. All other attributes of the vehicles will be the same as last year, including black only interior. These vehicles will not be numbered and there will be no other allocations for MY16 Polestar Vehicles..."
We may not see the Drive-E AWD until the 60-series redesign on the SPA platform. I suspect a variation of 450hp Drive-E prototype will be part of the Polestar offering.
The XC90 will approach 400hp with electrification and AWD. I believe the S90 (S80 replacement) is the next vehicle in the pipeline.
The '16 Polestars will be the last of the six-cylinder T6 AWD.
I had BSM on my 2003 BMW 540. It is absolutely stunning. In certain light, it looks like a blue black, other light, grayish black, and at night, a true black!
both colors would be viewed under light to see the real difference.
I have BSM on my XC60 and it looks nice, but I do personally find myself looking for that deep black - it just feels more luxe to me. (personal preference, nothing related to actual facts)
Thanks! It just seems very weird to me, KARP Volvo in Long Island also called me, I'm just trying to make it easier for me by working with Volvo in my state. Kind of frustrating that it seems like the whole dealership has no idea what's going on.
Don't get me wrong, they were insanely nice, and cordial. And i've been to their location for service already, and had a blast. Is it possible they are not a polestar dealer anymore?
Assuming you have time, always wait. However, 2017 is not a sure thing with Polestar, it is a dilemma. In your position I would go ahead and reserve a 2016, and then call everyone you can to figure out if a 2017 run is in the works as close as you can to delivery, have an out if you can. I have a hard time believing the prices we paid for the 2015.5 will hold, a steal in my opinion, and while the 2016 will be close I am guessing, 2017 is not even assured to exist, but the price is sure to escalate. It's a tough call.
infotainment was upgrade with the 2015.5 Polestar, correct? I was concerned as well, but the HD screen, crisp and clear nav maps, rear HD camera with zoom, the ability to start and lock the car with an app, streaming pandora, spotify etc. squashed all doubts.
