I had two wheels get loosened in new haven once. Both on the same side of the car. In the temple street garage.

Makes 3 sets then. I'm not sure they're rare just moreso forgotten. But when you have a grand in wheels and tires it's nice to keep them attached to the car.

After 5k on the Nokian ZLine AS they are ready for rotation. The front tires measure evenly at 9/32" and the rear at 9.75/32" (or less it's hard to judge on the tire gauge). That puts their expected life at 40k. Rated for 45k. That's radically better than my Michelins which were at 8/32 in 5k and done in 20k. That's the same wear that the Yokohama avid ascends on the t5xc are seeing since I measured those at the same time. I think that we may finally have a winner in terms of a UHP 3 season tire that lasts!

That's really good. Are you going to DIY solder it or get a Xemodex unit?

I swapped modules with a spare one and the problem persisted. Scanned with vida, right front wheel speed sensor had a fault. Cleared it and checked the axle bolt. Will see if that fixes it.

What's this about a tire lasting... You mean 7mm rear (9/32) and 5mm (6.4/32) front after 7000 miles is bad?... on a 4000lb AWD car driven well you know...

Somewhere, couldnt find them this morning. I ended up taking the sensor out of it shousing, cleaning it, plugging it back in and checking the connection by the strut tower. Still had the light when i restarted the car but i spun the wheels on some gravel on purpose and the abs light went out and STC kicked in as expected. So dirty and out of location sensor?

Lights came back and abs/stc was offline on my drive home. Crap. Ordered a new sensor and a reman midwest abs module. Figure its time to upgrade the abs anyway since its a safety consideration.

And the abs fixed itself this morning. I highly suspect the internal soldered joints on the board but it could be the wires in the abs sensor harness. Going sailing for the rest of the week so the fix will have to wait.

Swapped the abs module this morning. So far no more lights.

Which meant it was perfect timing for something else to go wrong........

Coolant hose explodes AS I am pulling into Ben's shop. Lucky much?

New heater core hoses, o rings, clips and spacers.

The hose that connects to the block by the lower radiator hose and the ptc hose had split.

All buttoned up and not leaking!

Lucky save on the timing and location for this little snafu.

Easily? Yea about that......try working on a scalding hot engine in somewhat nice clothes (it was an emergency i had nothing else with me) for 2 hours in a rainstorm. But, it happened and had to be fixed for tomorrow.

Yeah - maybe not so easy. But not in a tux and on 95 in 120 degree weather with no tools. Could've been worse! You make it sound easy until I commented...

No, you pinch the yellow tabs and wiggle the hose and they come out. The heater junction is installed from the inside so pulling on the hoses with the clips released just loads the firewall. Make sure to use new o rings and a little sil gylde goes a long way to help the o rings not pinch and slide in easily.

Got a p0134 code. No activity O2 sensor. Haven't put vida on it but there's a possibility that coolant got on the O2 sensor harnesses yesterday and they certainly could have been disturbed. Annoying. And the exhaust is starting to split again. I think it's time for a stainless downpipe and cat back as well as new O2 sensors
