Thats a pretty good steal. Where'd you pick it up from?

Houddogger and I know each other in person and 90% of our interaction is volvo dreams/projects/maintenance ect. But of course 10% is busting each others balls about each others cars and future projects for the comedic value.

      Stamford, CT.

Its presently worrying me a little bit because I'm getting in and all I hear is a "click" noise. Battery is suspect. How many volts are required for the starter? I hope that's all that is keeping it from firing right up, as it always has.

Here she is, presenly scaring the living crap out of me until it fires right up. All I get is a "click" noise, sounds like from under the passenger seat, at the moment. Weird.

*EDIT: Yes, the hood is popped since I think this battery is the reason its not even TRYING to start. Gotta see if I can get it juiced up.. Other reasons, I hope its not. Anyone ever had that happen? (And it eventually starts, right?)

      That was Chris@swedespeeds project 98 t5m wagon.

Not sure who owns it now or if it's still alive.

I agree it's a gorgeous car. I'd just use p80 wheels, pegs are too basic/common. And add rear mudflaps but otherwise i also think its perfection.

Eh, I like the Pegs ... and I already have nearly perfect set of 17's collecting dust in my garage waiting for the next "opportunity".

Your quest has me thinking that maybe I'm going about this all wrong looking for a perfect P2 non-R wagon.

Well if you've got them and like them, run them!

Theres lots of p80 cars around. And they're cheaper and easier to work on/bring back from the dead. Its the prime year sample to be in all the junkyards so anything you need you cant get from fcp/ipd/eeuro/emi ect you can still find. Thats why i'm sticking with this platform.

It's funny, I knocked one of my rear mud flaps off on a parking curb the other day and I haven't put it back on. I don't even notice it's not there. I agree on the Pegs, they are a bit over done for my taste. Of course I am looking for a set of Andrasteas for my T5M. I gotta get back into the Volvo as I have spent the last month rebuilding a 1986 Nissan 720 pickup. It's slow and noisy and rusty and is so far putting more smiles per mile than the wagon has in a while. It has the unintended consequence of making the Volvo seem like a pure luxury vehicle in comparison, which is nice.

I can get a set shipped for $200 on eBay, but I don't feel like dropping that much on them. Its almost boating weather and that is going to suck me dry. Plus I need a new steering rack and struts before I worry about it.

Thats not a bad price unless a set pops up for $100 around the corner or you find some in a junkyard.

Yep, I hear ya. If you know Gary (yellow95), he's still a huge P80 fan and bought both of my mine. I joke around with him that he's living in the past, but hey, the older I get living in the past isn't too uncommon anymore and after seeing Chris's white V70 reminds how awesome looking these cars were and still could be if done right. The longroof wagons of yore with their squared backed tailgates are real Volvo's to me, and I'm not really a fan of the current trend with the new V90. The only thing is that I work in new construction sales and can't really have a "moondoggie" looking car straight out the junkyard.

Yea i feel ya on that one. My boat needs an engine module that costs more than my new car. Until then, new water pump, fuel lines, varnish work and ignore the overheat horn thats shorting out and squawking even though the motors been cold for 5 months

I just woke mine up last weekend. Oil change, new fuel filters and it is ready to go. I need to do a bunch if paint work on the deck and the cabin this spring, plus short haul to clean the bottom and repack the rudder stuffing box. It never ends, but I spend a ton of time on it when the weather is good, so it's completely worth it.

      Where is JRL anyways?

I bought a gas pedal from a C70 from one of the folks on here, too.

Now you have me really thinking. My first car at 16 was white, and had white wheels - I paid 500 bucks, seemingly cheap until you consider ScottishBrick's latest acquisition in 2016. It was pretty sharp looking, and while I'm embarrased to say what it was, I got a LOT of compliments on it until it died, shortly thereafter (74 Vega). Alright, alright - I grant you the OK to laugh... But now I have a hankering for a mean white AWD wagon with blacked out pillars and powder coated white pegs. Rashed pegs abound, so they could be had for cheap, I'm sure. However - the interiors of this era seem to be very feeble and brittle to me (I had a 99 and it just sort seemed to snap and crack and wear hard). Are there good parts available that won't fall apart or look too cheap?

      Both were mine.
I sold the 98 to Chris with about 150K miles on it. He then proceeded to spend a small fortune on it!!
rsterns still has my 99 in CA. I guess he put PEGS on it, I liked the THORS better and they fit better That T5M was soooooooooooooooooooooooo nice to drive.

This project may be demoted to being a stock daily (with some tweaks of course) because i just got an emerald green 1999 t5m wagon.
