It seems there's many of us searching for V8 XC90's. Let's collectively use this thread to post finds, advice, and information we find on V8's that are available for sale. This should help to consolidate findings including warnings about shady dealers or vehicles history, exceptional deals, or anything else of value to other buyers. Also, if a member has one for sale that they'd like to call attention to, we can use this thread for that purpose, as well.

Hopefully people find this useful.

Just to start it, here's a warning about 06-07 (and potentially early-08) V8's regarding the transmission valve body:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...ssion-Valve-Body-Issue-amp-Serial-Number-Info
Just have the seller verify the transmission serial number for you. Needs to be above 06J, unless there are records proving the valve body or transmission replacement has been done.

This one is 3 miles from my house versus my 1000-mile round trip drive last weekend... I'll check it out this coming week. Hoping it has a dark interior with lots of options! Thanks for sharing.
Hope you have better luck with that one. Be sure to check the transmission serial # since it's an 07.

EmberS80 checked this 07 out today:
2007 Volvo XC90 V8 Sport - Ti Gray/??? - 93,537 - $11,500

Unfortunately, despite being an 1/3/2007 build, the transmission serial # is 06H. Oh well.

Here's some new finds:

Different style brake rotors: slotted, cross-drilled and smooth. That is interesting.

The one at Lehman seems like the best deal, even with the accident on the Carfax, IMHO.

2010 Volvo XC90 V8 Executive - Magic Blue/Rustico - 60,809 - $20,317 (Dat Interior!) - If it had RSE & NAV, I'd already own it

NAV is worthless in these cars. I wish I didn't have it ... Your smart phone with Google Maps or WAZE is far superior!

I don't need my RSE and I'll make it available if you can figure out how to remove and not cause any fault codes ....

There is a bright red r design xc90 I never noticed before less than a mile from me at a place called south street autos in Frederick, MD. If anyone like what they see online let me know and I can drop by and look at it for you. It looks a lot like post 66.

PAX5 looked at this 2009 XC90 V8 R-Design for me this morning. After his review, we each decided it was a PASS. They've not posted pictures yet, but what he found in his review of the vehicle left much to be desired. First, the CarFax does not show it, but sometime after 12/2009 this vehicle was in an accident which caused the replacement of the hood, bumper, and headlights. The repair appeared mechanically sound, but the paint work was a let down. There were also a dozen or so chips in the paint in the hood which were beginning to rust. The chrome trim all over the vehicle is cloudy. There's a good dent in the driver's door. The rear bumper is trashed. The wheels are as bad as I've ever seen a set of Cratus. They appear horribly stained and the finish is ruined. No curb rash, though.

On the plus side, the interior looked very well kept, with a few minor exceptions.

Anyways, or anyone looking, consider this a pass unless you can get some serious money off the price or you don't care about exterior condition.

Here's a link to the Google album I created - https://goo.gl/photos/2bj64VdviRkmUukB8. Sure looks nice from a distance.

And look closely, you'll see a difference in color on the hood vs the fenders. The texture, or "orange peel" is also different. It was also not primed properly, because every paint nick and scratch is rusting.

Anybody notice the "wrong" coolant in the reservoir? (it's green! Should be Volvo blue. And this one done at a Volvo dealer ...)

I'll leave this link up for a little while ... Use it as a learning tool.

This dealer keeps posting their 2010 Executive as a "new listing" ... this time the price went up - http://www.volvoofprinceton.com/used/Volvo/2010-Volvo-XC90-c3788c980a0e0adf52e53927e2c4fe9d.htm

After I discovered the collision damage, the car was offered to me for $10,500 ....

Here's their ad from March, 2016:

This is the second Volvo dealer we know of who lists their car with a Carfax that has no mention of any collision. Yet we know that both of the cars had the front panels, bumper and hood replaced ...

The other dealer:

Chris from Smyth Volvo called me this morning asking why I'd passed without even trying to negotiate so he could tell his manager. I sent him this email in response:

Chris,

Got your message this morning. Thought it would be easier to give you a list by email.

As we discussed previously, despite the CarFax being clean, that XC has obviously had an accident at some point after 12/2009 which required the replacement of the front bumper, hood, and headlights. There was not any obvious damage deeper into the front end than these parts, but when these parts were replaced, the paint work was done somewhat poorly. From the photos and descriptions I received, the shade, orange peel, and finish of the hood does not match the rest of the vehicle. The front bumper suffers similarly, although less obviously. Also, when the front bumper was painted, the painter elected not to remove the small trim grilles and instead taped them off. By doing this, they left paint lines at the edges of the grilles. There's also some concern about how well the primer was applied based on the small paint chips in the hood rusting.

The driver's door has a significant dent which is down to rusting metal.

The rear bumper is in need of significant repair/replacement.

The chrome trim around the entire vehicle is cloudy.

The decorative trim piece on the rockers is badly stained.

The wheels are as bad as I've ever seen a set of Cratus wheels. They appeared to be very badly stained and in need of refinishing.

The RSE DVD player's trim ring is broken and is not sold separate from the arm rest.

The passenger head rest and RSE screen have a tear/scratch.

The engine has more aluminum corrosion on top of the engine than I've seen before.

The coolant is both the wrong color and WAY overfilled.

Considering these items, I believe there's thousands of dollars of work required to bring the XC up to the value of the asking price and I realize that there's no way you guys could get the price low enough to make it worth me buying it. That's why I've elected to pass on it.

Found this searching tonight.
2007 V8 Sport:
www.ultimomotorsports.com/inventory/2007-volvo-xc90-v8-sport-all-wheel-drive-suv-yv4ct852771404413

It has an R design badge on the front and the blue speedo/tach but are those the right seats? Not sure if the tranny has the desired serial # but it does look (based on the car fax) that the tranny was at least flushed once. Looks really clean inside and out via the pics. Love those wheels and has nice extras (weather tech, parrot, cargo goodies).
Oh yeah.......P* badge on the back (I assume that is legit but dunno).
Hoping the much more knowledgable than I will chime in!

- R-Design badge incorrect .. should be V8 emblem
- air filter incorrect
- chrome wheels incorrect

Other:
- VIN numbers on front fenders and front bumper are present (no collision)
- seats are correct
- windshield appears to have Volvo logo on it, but hard to tell

What bothers me: 4 owners ... too many IMO.

Nice detail job and photography. :)
