Tachometer for 1992 245

I own a 1992 245 with a manual tranmission, but no tachometer. Would it be easier/cheaper to add one in inside the dash cluster, or to put one outside the cluster next to the vents? Is there anywhere I can find either?

This topic should cover most of it. You should be able to get an oem tach from the junkyard that will fit in your insturment cluster in place of the clock. Car should be pre-wired for it too. Hope that Helps.

Dude I put a Sunpro Tach in my 240 and it works great and is lilluminated!

Keep in mind that while any tach from 81 until 92 will fit your car, they changed the finish on them in ( I believe)1989 to a matte finish from a satin finish. You can notice the difference, but hey, if you don't care, your chances of finding an older one may be better. Good luck!

I think is just as easy to install the large tach as it is to mount a tach external to the cluster. The reasoning being that you're going to have to remove the cluster to get to the tach wire, and once it's out, it's just a few screws to get the job done.

I have a matte finish tach with mini-clock if you want it. It's yours for $40 + actual shipping.

Can you send me a pic or two of the tachometer? I need to fix my trip odometer anyway, so I figure if I am going to be working on the dash, might as well add the tach.
