What about the tan R front and rear seats I gave you when I charcoal swapped my car? I know the driver seat needed some love, but I thought your plan was to install those seats?

It was and continues to be the plan, Brandon. Choices choices had me confused. I'm taking the hood, LF fender, and LR door shell from the donor. They are mint beyond belief and with same patina as mine.

Thanks - you can PM me when you start parting it - I've been on the hunt for a nice set and most of the ones I find out at Pick-n-Pull aren't in the greatest shape.

Nice, I'm looking forward to seeing how those clean up!

If you can find some tan R door panels then you can pull off having slight contrast with the lower dash and pillars.

Ahhhhhh I gotta stop dreaming and focus on my path ahead . That's a good call. I passed up two decent opportunities to purchase those this year. I gotta buck up and spend the money on them.

I swapped the front and rear seats to oak but my door panels still have the beige insert. I also have the caramel dolby dash. I'm not sure how the mixing of the two seat colors would look, I'm not super crazy about my door panels not matching. I don't think it looks bad per say but I'm a little anal with details. I do think the darker dash color looks fine though. I'll get some good pictures with the seats, dash, and door panels together.

Old hood off. Cleaned the rest of the cowl and hood seals with my rubber dressing after degreasing it with rubber prep.

New hood transferred, clay barred, and waxed. Wow, this donor hood is just immaculate! Zero dents and four tiny nicks to patch later. Getting the hood aligned properly was a bear; it took two hours. The donor had an XC grill on it too so I took that. I'm told the original owner installed it when new. Not sure I love it like everyone else seems to, but I'll let it grow on me. At least folks will stop saying, "...upgrade the grille, bro." Now, I'm ready for IPD's garage sale complete with Swedish proverbs on the front (shown) and rear.

I just ordered leather for the shift boot and the ebrake boot in my wagon. $88 shipped from Redline Goods. I chose charcoal color which matches the gray interior switches, radio, and the gray plastic console trim exactly with same colored thread to keep it unassuming.

Of note, I discovered they also supply leather panels for the door card inserts. With the 15% discount, all four panels can be had for $168 shipped which seems fair. At 42 per panel, my upholstery gal can't secure the material and make the piece at that cost. Unless mint r/se panels fall into my lap, I'm adding this to my list downstream. I'll going to try the diy first on a donor front panel to see if I can pull it off well. I bought the color sample set, every color option, and there are a few great options offered to augment my door card.

The night before Portland. I thought these were interesting shots. The wagon looks like a toy. I'll get some on the way down and at IPD.

I also polished and secured the rest of the door sills.

I too got one from Britain through eBay. The custom made-to-order quality is terrific.

There is no diy procedure for a 98 apparently. No info in owners manual. And info I got from the web about cycling the key 5x within ten sec to light up the security light on the dash does not do anything. If I run out of things to do to this wagon, I'll see the dealer about getting it to work.

Dealer will have to program to your car's immobilizer- no biggie, but they'll charge you because they're a Volvo Dealership and they're carved from evil.

I received my boots from Poland's Redline Leather Goods store. Very high quality. The owner has great communication and details for his products. I went with Charcoal since it matches the base plastic trim. I debated a beige tone so I bought the sample kit, but ultimately decided against a non-gray color. There's a couple grays so I'm glad I had the sample set to assure the tone was correct. $88 shipped for the pair is pretty fair I think. Night and day from the cheap eBay knockoff I bought first. Smells great.

I still need to repair the tears in my rubber corrugated shift boot and modify it to accept the '99 leather knob I have. And then find the best glue to secure the boots to their brackets and the ebrake bracket to its plastic base. I'm going to take it slow on this project. I'll report back with the work as it progresses. )

Of note, Redline has leather inserts for door cards too - the route I'll probably go later.

I used Gorilla Glue, sparingly because it expands a good deal as it dries. No issues so far.
