Didn't know Volvo made an XC50 Cross Country ... looks hideous!

Bro, you need some side step rails or running boards to get in that thing?

Yep 205/65's going on mine next time...then comes a VIDA setup and adjusting the speedometer for the bigger tires.

Went with 215/55/16 which didn't seem to alter the Speedo or Tach signficantly..

There is only a 11mm difference in diameters of the two tires, making for a 1.4" longer travel per tire turn between the 215/55 and the 205/55. Speaking in terms of MPH, it only adds up to a 2mph difference in the 75mph+ range, so it's not really a concern

Yeah I knew it wouldn't be as significant as the larger 205/65/16 but thought it would register just a little difference. At least using my gps to compare showed no difference to the 205/55. Next time I get stud's for winter I'm going 205/65/16, but need to wear out the 17" Ice-8's first..

The wheel/tire looks good! Did you swap out the 17s? And did you notice any performance gain with the lower weight?

Thanks! I really like the way it turned out too.. Love the open 5 spoke design, wish I had the OEM 16" 5 spokes too instead of the ones that came with it.

Yes, stock ride height, she might be a little saggy even as I know the suspension seems a bit tired. Piecing together a suspension refresh as we speak.

Yes the stock 17" rim stayed with my studded tires and I got these 16" with the tire package (Alutec Grip Graphite Silver 16x6.5 & Mich Pilot Sport AS/3+)...

No real way for me to measure any performance gains, but it sure rides nicer, far less jarring on bumps and dips and my pothole laden alley, which I attribute to the added sidewall and slightly larger footprint. Certainly feels even more "planted" than it did on the 17"s in the corners too. Cant wait to see how it rides with a refreshed suspension too.

Ha ha...but it sure is nice to have the clearance when there's 6-8" of snow on the ground. Just like the Coast Guard - No one likes them until they need them.
