Well hot damn, this was the best one ever. R-Gang (Ramstein area owners) met up at Burger King at 0800. 7 is our best turnout and first trip for Steve and his son Pierre (silver V70R), as well as first outing for Renato (MB S60R).

I chose not to lead this time so I could roam and take pics as well as do some decibel measurements with new exhaust. (will post those details in a later thread).

    Doug (D-Autobahn Guy)

    Gerry (spd-dmn-22)

    Russ

    Renato

    Steve

    JT

We had a total of 13 S60/V70Rs (Sean arrived later so his '04 silver S60 not in pic and Patrick from Heico came later as well). We also had 3 previous generation Rs. 16 Rs (plus Florian dropped by).

after meeting up and everyone showing off different mods I brought complete extra Svenske set up - BMC Filter/DP/Exhaust with 2 & 3 resonator option. Also showed off Digital Jukebox (not installed yet), Ultimate pedals (still haven't got around to those), front and rear Evolve Sway bars, iPOD and USA Spec interface. Richard, everyone was fawning over your exhaust set-up, especially when they heard Russ' and my exhausts.
    http://ss.otheron.com/rkelly/video/2resonator.MOV
I would expect some long distance phone calls.

Hey everyone post what you showed as well, Jesse you had Evolve discs that were new I think.

After that, some people went to take a lap, others went to reserve place at restaurant, and still others waited for ADAC to come unlock their doors - after having their foot ran over by a little Renault. European owners, don't forget you have a Volvo assist who will call and pay for ADAC to come out.

Ahem, so again great lunch at Giulia's pizzeria in Adenau, under the Ring. LOTS of goodies to give away:

    Gerry

    Doug

Fernand (Bavaria R) He is smiling really big because besides the hat and T-shirt,

he won the grand prize - $1199 Ceramic coated Svenske 3" DP with Random Technology racing cat. Thanks again Richard

    Also, great donations from:
    ipd
    Autozentrum 2000 (Homburg Volvo)
    VCNA
    swedespeed
    Pirelli
    takspeed
    BSR
    Spang Gang

I donated the OMP aluminum racing pedals, and then promptly won them in the raffle. Not only could I not sell them, I couldn't even give them away.

Svenske Racing also generously picked up the lunch tab, (if Richard raises prices soon, you can blame us)

Russ had to make an early exit with the family - but looking and sounding fierce -

    Sporting some sponsor goodies

    JT starting the training young

    Horse vs. Moose

    Gratuitous Ferrari pic

btw, the Moose stickers were a HUGE hit at the ring. My exhaust got everyones attention (you could just see the looks of, what the f**K? that's a Volvo ) and then the laughs and thumbs up for the moose. I brought two extra sets, plus Doug, so Moose was in the house.

My new favorite picture - vizwiz, when does round 2 begin?

Gratuitous pics of Inga, because well they look nice IMO and it's my thread.

Heico showed up in the afternoon with whole fleet of cars, S40s, V50s, C70s and this S60R with insane 20" Volutions.

    Carbon fiber mirror anyone?

Lots of ring closures due to people exceeding their capabilities today, made it hard to get laps in. I got one in that was my best ever, total blast because I was last person to be allowed on track before temporary closure, so I didn't have to worry about anyone passing me. I improved my average MPH by 2 so very happy.

I missed out on a ride with Florian, but Todd was there again and he gave me a 8:40 ring lap in his WRX. That is VERY FAST.

he is a VERY good driver in an amazing track machine. I'm still dizzy...

    Nurburg Castle

Nice pic of Renatos Magic Blue a$$ on way home.

Just some of the amazing scenary we drive through to get to the ring.

Final group shot, missing about 10 people.

Again thanks to everyone for coming out and making this a huge success. And a special thanks to our sponsors. Stay safe and keep enjoying your R.

Now I know there were a lot of people taking pics and a lot of little anecdotes from today, I expect to see some more pics, posts and replies from the R community.

I agree, this was the best Nürburgring event without doubt! Thanks to the sponsors and Svenske for paying for my spaghetti bolognese...lol.

I've got only a few pics, mainly vids... http://www.jcviggen.com/Nordschleife_12-6/

and I was a little naughty on the way there... http://www.jcviggen.com/245.avi (both hands on steering wheel but one also holding cam)

Got a lot of stories to tell but i gotto get up early in the morning so i'll tell them tomorrow

I WOULD however like to say that a 51 yr old driver in an E46 M3 was killed early in the morning at the track....he went off at Schwedenkreuz at high speed and flipped several times, car was apparently unrecognizable and driver was killed in the impact...RIP

Big thanks again for the great prizes I won, specialy to Svenske Racing for the great 1st price.... will just need the stage 2 from BSR Softloader PPC to harmonize with it before mounting.

Thanks also to Kelly for having organized this great day.

I shure was worth making the 1100KM ride from Munich to meet all these fine people and running the track.... and winning the prizes

See you all here on swedespeed.

I am so jealous right now!!!!

Do you have any more pictures of the R on 20" Volutions??? Your going to make my 18's feel inadequate .

Also a personal “Thanks” to you Richard for the great donation of Svenske Racing….
As I wrote my Softloader from BSR is not compatible with the Downpipe… what about the famous softloader from Svenske Racing Stage 2 compatible.

I could imagine switching to Svenske Racing equipment if they would come up with a compatible softloader prior to BSR

I'm impressed by some REALLY nice pictures, Kelly . They are more aggresive .

Looking forward to other pictures as well, and to the anecdotes .

    Bavaria...

I can't tell you anything about a product that doesn't exist or the timeframe that it might be available because it isn't in production...

But... Isn't July a nice time of the year for a picnic?

    YES PLEASE

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy ****, what a ride!"

Great pics R Kelly and thanks for organizing a fabulous event.

I partook in the social gathering, then Johann and I went out for a lap. I made it roughly 500 yards when my Evolve silicone radiator hose burst and I had to quickly pull over. A nice gentleman in a yellow Porsche pulled up beside me to explain that my car was "kaput". Thanks!

Luck was with me as Johann helped me push my car off the track and it just so happened that there was a gate to leave the track being opened by a cleaning lady. She kept the gate open so we could push my car out and avoid the 200 Euro towing fee.

You won't believe this but Speedemon had a spare hose in his R which was quickly (not that quickly) put on my car.

A few bottles of water later and my car was ready to go. As I pulled over soon after the warning light came on I hoped that my head wasn't warped from overheating.

After lunch I did another lap with Bryan in the car and all went well. I had a great dice with Autobahn-Guy and besides going off the track on one corner, had a great lap.

If you ask any of us that participated I am sure we all share that, "ooh, thank God that is over" feeling when we drive back into the paddock and our car is in one piece, especially after knowing there has been a fatality on the track 2 of the 4 times I have had a Nordschleife track day. I am shipping my car back to the US on Monday so I was very pleased to have not rolled it into a shiny F Green ball! Damn it was fun!

    LET'S DO IT AGAIN!

    My latest mod:

adds a little drag to the hat, but still very "high speed"

I left in a bit of a hurry. I'll have to go back and pick up the requisite Nurburgring car sticker and hat pin.

Hmm, I wonder how my wife's Passat would do on the Nordschliefe?

Hey, does anyone have a picture of me holding Julia during the raffle? Please post or e-mail me.

Also, wondering if someone had a picture of all the toys laid out, I know lots of people had cameras, lets see some pics

Also, if someone wants high res pics of what I posted, I'll e-mail them to you if you have a server so other people can download them as well.

Very nice pic, and driving technique Viggen!

I really like that color, with those wheels. I think that model is the "classic" Volvo sports sedan.

Tint..... get a helmet with a tinted visor.... or at least a helmet!

  27. 06-14-2005 05:07 PM #27
lol! helmet is all well and good but his car would like SLICK with some nice 20% tint

I uploaded the picture from Doug's car (red one, from behind), the 20 inch Volution wheel (really sharp picture!) and those of Inga in a compressed file. The compressed size is 37 MiB, uncompressed 100 MiB. I used winrar, http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm.

You can download it from http://users.skynet.be/lve/Inga.rar. Each picture is 14 MiB (BMP), so I couldn't host it uncompressed . But, the pictures are really sharp, give it a shot (certainly for those who want a new background, although I prefer a girl ).

Yeah, that way the carnage on the inside would be less disturbing to passers-by.

People get killed at that place, fer Christ's sake! See earlier post.

17,000 people die on US roads every year just from drunk drivers. I'm sure someone could post the total number of traffic deaths every year in the U.S. Yet you still drive?

Which is also why we will NEVER have someplace like this in the states.

The first time someone died, the bleeding hearts would have the thing shut down

  35. 06-15-2005 03:48 PM #35
Someone just needs to create a private Nuriemburg ring in the US...you sign a waiver and it allows you to drive however fast you want...you kill yourself or damage others property, you are responsible...WE have race-tracks here...they also need to improve driver education here but that IS WHOLE NOTHER situation
