Hey guys, I'm thinking of putting together a meet on the south shore of Boston thins spring, probably late April. Perhaps we could do a cruise as part of it, too? Anyone interested? Not sure how big this is going to be and some of the locations I'm thinking about may not be viable if it gets too big, but here are a couple ideas to get the discussion flowing:
Idea 1: We could meet in Cohasset, then cruise up the coast to Hull for some cool pictures. THIS is one of the best photo locations in the Boston area; you've certainly seen pictures of my caR there if you follow my threads. I am aware of several other Volvos that have made their way here for pictures in the past, but am not aware of anyone ever bringing a meet here. Yes, I know it looks very full in the satellite picture, but this is due to the fact that it serves as commuter boat parking on weekdays. Competition for space with tourists shouldn't be a huge issue on a weekend before Memorial Day.
Idea 2: I'm guessing most people would be coming in from SR 3, though, so maybe you guys would want to meet closer to the highway and the cruise a bit longer since there will probably be a lot of people traversing that region, anyway? Perhaps we could meet at the Hanover Mall, then have a cruise something like this? It's not the most direct route, but we'd have to go around the east side of Wompatuck State Park if we didn't want to deal with a lot of traffic.
Idea 2a: If this cruise is getting too long or we get too many people, we could also terminate HERE instead.....it's not nearly as epic a photo spot but it's still pretty good and involves much less driving in Hull, which is not particularly fun to drive in and might be a bit of a rough ride for anyone riding on stuff like IPD springs and/or Bilstein HDs (click here to find out how I know about this lol). Oh, you want to see some pictures of my 850R in the epic photo location I am suggesting to help you decide if it's worth it? Here you go (scroll down.....the first few were shot HERE)
Either way, maybe afterwards we could head for some lunch at Jake's Seafood? Parking is tight but if we are there for lunch in the springtime it should be empty enough for us to all park next to each other so we don't have to worry anyone giving us door dings. Or, if nobody likes seafood, there are other good places in the area with much more varied menus that would be good options. For example, this place, which has hands down the best fish and chips I've had anywhere except Mystic Seaport and also has much more spacious parking accommodations.
Anyway, let me know if any of you guys are up for something like this......if there is enough interest I'll move forward with more serious planning.
