      T8 versions of S90 and V90

Does anyone know, when they will be presented and available?

Given XC60 is the focus of this year, T8 S/V90 probably is not on the top priority list. Don't know if they want to show some test cars first but T8 demo cars are rare even for XC90.

The S/V90 T8 is available for order in Europe. No news about V90 CC T8 yet.

Saw V90 T8 on Volvo SE builder site. Did anyone place order and get an estimated date for delivery? Should be really exciting to drive.

Seems they don't want to treat V90CC with T8.

Probably when S90 production moves to China.

Is Tesla too expensive? Can one recover gas money? It is not for money saving!

      It is because we can!

It's not a hybrid in that sense. The idea is you get 400hp without losing much if any fuel economy over the T6 (which has 316hp).

That said, I'd much rather have lower fuel economy and a TT V8 a la BMW and MB.

Doesn't T8 have a market in US same reason as in EU. You don't like it while there are other people like it.
People will buy it just like people buy Tesla as well. And T8 is more affordable and more useful than Tesla.

By the way, the HCCI you mentioned is indeed interesting. Mazda is trying to use it I think. Not sure why it is more efficient but if the number is real it is indeed encouraging.

My point was it's not the same flavor of Hybrid as a Toyota Prius.

If fuel economy is your priority, 400hp is not the answer no matter how you cut it.

As far as a T8 version of the V90, if Volvo is only planning on selling 1,000 units a year here, you'd have to think that a T8 would sell only a fraction of that.

Since V90 is custom order only, it does not matter if it sells 1000 or 5000 a year. Just ask the factory to mate the V90 body with a T8 chassis, eg. make the d--n thing we want to buy.

Were it so simple or cheap. Volvo would need to go through the whole EPA certification process for just a relative handful of units.

EPA process is just matter of time and tedious. Any difficulty to get pass?

Keep in mind that these things are politically involved and may change in the next few years.

In reading the 2018 on line S90 manual, there is no mention of the T8, just the T5 andT6. I *really* think I want the S90 T8. My wife drives a plug-in hybrid, so I need no extra investment on faster charging at home. I just read about a wide-spread T8 problem in the XC90's on another post (sudden, unexpected shut down of entire vehicle).... Maybe a delay in releasing the 2018 S90 T8 is to ensure the problem is fixed, and production of any wonky part(s) is corrected, before they begin importing them. Also, they could be short parts as it looks like EVERY XC90 T8 is being recalled for that problem.

Actually in Europe these models were released in March 2017. It is possible to buy them in the main European markets.

So, Volvo released the 2018 S90 T8 in Europe in March? Wow. (Or were they 2017 models?) If S90L is the only version the USA is getting in 2018, then I guess we have to wait until the Chinese plant is up and running before we here can see them. I wonder if the European S90 T8s are having similar sudden, unexpected shut down issues like the XC90 T8s here (as mentioned in another post about XC90s)???

It was released in March. It is 2018 model. I do not know anything about issues, because there were simply no tests. I really like the performance, because according to company data 0-62 mph acceleration is only 4.8 seconds, which sounds impressive.

Thanks for the update. I also hope they post the MPGe and city/hwy/combined numbers. I am very surprised at the 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds, and agree, impressive.
