I'd pick up a '99+ angle flange exhaust housing and dp while you're in there.

They didn't have any. Also they ruin the dp's because they don't sell the cat so basically they cut it apart with a sawzall.

Where is the best place to get the collar sleeve? Are there any seals you recommend changing at the same time?

I went to the junk yard on Friday and pulled some parts out of two clean V70 XC's.
      What I picked up:
o windshield washer Sprayer 99 or newer
      o taillights
      o plastic under tray
      o roof trim with rails
      o carpet
      o insulation under rear seat
      o heater control knob
o 99-00 passenger side map pocket
      o driver's side front fender
o painted trim for rear windows (mine had no clear coat)
o latch phase 1 anchors (Top Tether Straps)

The one thing I hadn't planned on getting was a full set of seats. After I pilled the carpet out of a really clean car, I took a second look at the seats and realized they looked a ton better than what I had. The seats are a little dry but they are hole and crack free. I've already cleaned and conditioned the seats. I also now have a power passenger seat.

The drivers seat looks better in person than it looks on in the picture. All the other seats look even better than this.

I also took a picture of the rear carpet area after cleaning:

The map pocket isn't exactly plug and play. You'll have to delete the passenger knee bolster to install it. Whether or not this is a safety problem is debatable. I'm not sure UN market cars had it at all; if this is the case, I would be pretty comfortable deleting it.

There seems to be quite a few debates on the knee bolster. I really don't care, I'd rather have the map pocket. If it was really a huge safety concern, I doubt Volvo would have added it.

ME7 cars don't have the same airbags as m4.x cars. That's why the knee bolster went away. The NHTSA writes the safety reg's under the assumption that the occupants are not wearing seat belts whereas the UN market safety reg's assume that occupants are wearing seat belts. I have a strictly enforced seat belt policy in my cars, so I'd have no issue deleting mine, and probably will if I can figure a way to put a map pocket in an 850.

I cleaned the new (to me) carpets as well as the rear seat backs and the liftgate. I started the carpet and seat install. The rear seat backs are installed, they really didn't make that easy to do. I also installed the front carpets. I would have had it all back together but I ran out of time.

I install all the relays, etc associated with the fog lights. The passenger side under dash map pocket is also installed. I probably have about 2-3 hours left to complete the interior. Once I'm done with the interior, I'm going to work my way through the used parts I acquired including the roof rails, front fender, headlights, taillights and grille. Pics to come.

I need to finish up a installing the plastic covers for the front seat bolts and the dead pedal. I would have had it all done if it wasn't for us all getting the flu.

I'm considering trying to vinyl wrap the dash trim. I figure if I really don't like the look, I could always pick up a set of wood dash trim. All the wood trim in the junk yard has been trashed and I'm not really sure that I'm ambitious enough to pull the entire dash in the junk yard either.

The two vinyls that I'm considering are either 3M Di-NOC Carbon Fiber or Ebony.

Just have to pull the dash top to get the center one out. The other two pieces take minutes.

I'm going to start digging into the car sometime in May. I have to do some work to my old F250 first but once that is done, I'm starting on the V70. First order of business is going to be getting the head pulled so I can have it rebuilt.

I got mine wrapped by Gatorwraps and I am very satisfied! They have a lot of wraps, with lots of types and colors to choose from. You should also check Gatorprints.

Ebony would be nice. What about a Kevlar weave or birch?

I messed with the car on Friday. I installed the replacement tail lights and the roof rails. I didn't want them to get broken sitting around my garage.

I also got the car running so I could move it and my pickup around. I pulled the plugs and gave them a quick clean. Two things were confirmed, the PCV system is clogged and the car is burning coolant. One thing that makes me happy is the motor is firing on all cylinders. I'm also happy that the car went into drive and reverse without a problem but I didn't take the car above 5mph.

      Things observed:
-There was quite a bit of oil under the spark plug cover including 3 of the plug holes filled with oil.
      -Plugs were very oil fouled.
-PVC system very clogged, oil was spraying out the oil cap.
      -Coolant cloud out exhaust.
-Coolant on ground when system pressurized, I didn't have a chance to investigate. I'm sure it is related to the reason the head gasket blew.
      -Turbo is spooling and boosting.
-Coolant was low and oil is chocolate milk. I already knew this.
-Car tries to stall at idle.
-Car has check engine light (obviously).
      -ABS/ Trac lights are on.

One weird thing that I've never seen before is the hazard switch is jammed and making a horrible noise. At first I thought is was the tape deck because it sounded a little like that but louder. I'm going to try and pull it and see if I can clean it, if not I'll pull one from the junk yard. I'm assuming it can be pulled once the radio is out?

I have not checked the codes yet, I still need to get a cable for my laptop. Once I get that done, I'll post the list of codes.

One more question. How do I remove the side molding from the front fender? The replacement fender is from an XC so I need to swap the pewter molding from one fender to the other.

If you are replacing the fenders it's easiest to remove from behind after you get the fender off. 50/50 that you'll break the clips removing from the outside via any method I've found. Maybe someone else has come up with a better way to do it that reduces that probability.

I am removing the fender so I can pull it while it is off. Is it just held on by those two plastic clips? can I squeeze them from behind?

Exactly. It's the best way. Don't squeeze too hard or you'll break them; done that, too........

I've never seen tape behind one of those pieces but all of the ones I recall pulling have been on an 850 so it could be different on the x70s.

Probably don't have to say this since you seem to know your way around cars, but I would soak all your head bolts down several times over the course of several days before pulling the head. I broke a bolt on my '98 when I pulled my head and it was not fun, finally got it out of the block though after hours of cursing lol.

I was planning an using PB Blaster on everything days before I start taking it about. I've always had luck with it on the old cars. I'm hoping this car doesn't give me too much grief being a Colorado car and not having any corrosion on the motor. I'm not going to get my hopes up though. I'm going to try and be really easy on the head bolts.

I went to the pull and pay today and I got some good finds.
      -S60R manifold with heat shield
      -sc-901
      -center channel with processor
      -99 side markers with wiring
      -na throttle body
      -hazard switch
      -fog light

I still need to get an under seat amp with wiring and bracket.

I picked up the manifold and heat shield for a total of about $30 so I figured I might as well do it.

They have a '93 850 GLT in the junk yard with a complete motor. I was reading that they have a good cam but I didn't have the time to pull the motor apart and snag them. I'm not sure I would even want to deal with installing them.

I could not find a tan speaker when I installed a 901 in my T5M so I painted the black one I bought. It turned out GREAT!

I picked up a really nice leather wheel at the junk yard and it cleaned up nicely. I also got a set of dynaudio dash speakers.

I also picked up a 960 throttle plate. Pictured with the na throttle body.
