Great Scott! What a beauty. Looks nearly as nice as the 29K mi wheel I got from Jim.

What did that look like when you got it? That's an incredible find!!!

What are the Dynaudio dash speakers out of? I believe the C70 speakers are a different impedance (4 Ω vs 8 Ω iirc) if that's where they came from so you can't really mix and match that way.

The wheel had a cover on it and when I pulled it off it was dirty. I used simple green and a horse hair brush to clean it. I think whoever owned it bought the cover instead of cleaning it which probably saved it. I'm going to use leather conditioner on it when I install. I played $11 for it.

I didn't know the c70 dash speakers were 4 ohms, too bad.

I did some work on the car on Sunday. I installed the SC-901 radio and the optional center channel speaker, Dolby processor, and dash top. While I had the dash top off I swapped out the instrument cluster so I now have the trip computer but I added 21k miles to the car, lol (I need to figure out how to have it adjusted).

I also installed the old school iPd grill insert that I picked up from the junk yard a while back. I sanded it and painted it semigloss black since it was pealing silver. Even though I haven't changed out the headlights or the front fender yet, I think it changes the look of the car completely. I'm thinking of getting a prancing moose emblem for the grill to complete the look.

I have the same grille and prefer it over the egg crate look.

I agree completely. I thought about making matching lower grilles when I install the fog lights.

I installed the Dynaudio dash tweeters last night. I wanted to get them put in so they wouldn't get ruined in the garage. I'm going to get the steering wheel installed next.

Next on the list is the front fender and headlights. I also need to start pulling the motor apart so I can inspect the head and rebuild it. I'll send it out to have it leak tested but I'll do the actual rebuild myself including valve lapping.

I'm taking a full week off in a couple of weeks to work on the cars. I need to pull the intake and oil pan off my truck to clean, paint, and reseal first. I also have a few other small projects to do on it before I start on the Volvo.

Turns out Victor Reinz isn't actually OE for the HG.......we were just going through this yesterday with my friend who blew the HG on his '98 V70 T5M. We're going Genuine Volvo on it since we can't find the true OEM HG for sale anywhere without the blue box.

There's one of those "sick VolvoSpeed mods" for the firewall junction if you don't want to spend $$$ on something that's probably gonna break again next time you have to disconnect it. See my 850R thread for a version of that mod that doesn't involve hacking up the hard lines.

Good to know. I was hoping to save some money with the Victor Reinz set but I'd rather go with OE and not have to replace it again. I assume I should also go with OE for the cam seals?

I'll look into that firewall junction mod. Thanks

It's a smart idea to go OEM on every seal, o ring, critical bolt and gasket. You do not want to do this job twice.

So are you saying that the Victor Reinz head gasket set isn't as good as the OEM one? My mechanic friend is putting the head on my 1998 GLT as I type this and I think that's the brand that he is using.

Thanks. The wheel looks as good in person as it does in the pictures. After closer inspection, I found one wear spot about the size of a pencil head. I used Lexol Leather Conditioner on the wheel to protect it.

I have an under seat amp and a wood grain shift knob both shipping today. To finish up the interior, I will just have more headliner cleaning, dash wood grain vinyl, door panel vinyl inserts, and maybe new door speakers. I really can't believe this is the same car interior. I guess I get a little carried away with the details, if you saw how far I went with my RX-7 you would understand. This car is super easy to find good parts for.

Looking really good. It has come a long way in a pretty short amount of time. I wish there better junk yards around here, not having much luck getting parts. The main yards here have a total of 3 to pull parts from.

Ideally I'd like to find a set of tan R door panels.

My other thought was to get some 4 way stretch marine vinyl. I'm not really sure if that will work though.

I now have a wood shift knob installed, pics to come. My under seat amp should be here soon from Canada. If the USPS site would work, I could actually track it now that it is in the US. It was in NY on the 14th so I'm assuming it will be here the beginning of next week.

I also got my scan cable for my computer so I can see what codes the car has. I'll post a list.

How'd you wire the center channel up? I plugged in my 2 wire harness but the volume is super quiet.

The two wire harness and the processor and I can hear it just fine. I'm not sure that there is any other choice. I'm running it with no amp so I only have sound out the the center channel. Is your adjustment knob set right because I noticed that makes a huge difference?

Could you be having problems with the center channel amp in the radio? Try connecting a known good working speaker into the center channel wiring on the dash top side and see if it is working. You could also use a 9v battery on the speaker itself and see if it is moving. Also you could pull the speaker grille, turn the radio up, and see if it is moving much.

You need to follow the 901 manual to adjust the center speaker volume and the rear surround space. Huge difference once tuned in properly.

I tried to scan for codes using for 1.3 and 1.7 but I couldn't get the cable to connect. I picked up a VAG-COM KKL 409.1 OBD2 serial port cable.

No, you don't, ( or you shouldn't have to), just pull out and turn up the little knob. In the middle setting mine is quite loud

Yea that's not the case for me. Tried that, doesn't seem to make much difference. I know that the speaker works, the head unit is functional and the harness has proper power. So weird.

For anyone who's added a center channel, was your center speaker harness just two wires? Blue and blue with white stripe?
