Sorry to disappoint but no actual strippers were featured. It was a base '99 V70 with only 113K on it. Heated cloth seats, no fog lamps, no sunroof. No idea if it was NA or turbo.

I'm curious why this one got kicked in the nuts.
The miles and maintenance are a bit high for me as a daily driver...but just curious.
It having originated in Canada it may be more difficult to import.

Don't forget that up to a certain date, the passenger side mirror was optional in the US. I had to add one to my first car.

I'd avoid it. This dealer isn't particularly trusted. Notice the number of 1-star reviews... Their cars always look nice in the 1 picture they post in the ad, and seem a bit underpriced, but I think there's a reason for that.

      Ok... makes sense.
The only businesses more shady than a tire shop are tow truck companies.
And not the place you want to start out with on something like an R.

I think it looked basically okay to me at first, but other folks found some stuff I didn't notice, which made it seem a little sketch... and then there's the dealer.

I posted it up but personally, wouldn't consider it seeing as it is at 280K kms, for me, 300K is like the point where you're pouring lots of $$ into it. But you never know, some handy folks who are really good DIY, loves to work on cars, might want something like this as a 'winter beater'. Body seems to be in good shape. As for the dealer, I wouldn't rule every car out just because, I'd at least go and take a look. Even other reviewer raved about his/her purchase so you never know.

Yeah I totally see what you mean. But 280k and a potentially shady dealer doesn't seem like a good combo. At least if it were a private sale you'd be able to get more background info from the owner. And as for raving reviews, it's pretty easy for a business owner to get their friends, or pay people to rave about their shop, I've seen it done blatantly on google reviews before

I love the ones that are super obviously planted reviews. It will say something like:

"Joe Smith's Cars is the best dealer on the planet. I wouldn't shop anywhere else, ever. The owner, Joe, is really friendly, honest and fair. The parts manager, Fred, is a great guy who really helps out. The service manager, Todd, works hard to satisfy the customers. They're the best. Also, Joe's wife is the most beautiful woman ever!"

For everyone doubting higher mile vehicles, my first 2001 V70 T5 GT was purchased at over 200k miles, my recent (same year/model/options) bought at 246k miles. All checked out by a fellow poster here (not in Pennsylvania) who has owned ~20 Volvos of all post-95 years in the past 36 months.

That first VT5 GT wagon visited at least 23 states (South Carolina to the High Mountains of Colorado to the ferries of Washington State). Yes, prior maintenance looked true on both.

The only vehicle that came remotely as comfortable to those P2 T5 was my Escalade. Not even my dad's '08 ACURA MDX (which I have driven five times between his winter home in South Texas to his summer place in New Brunswick, Canada).

My '06 MINI Cooper S 6-sp was a handling blast, in a go-kart way. The '05 ACURA TL was a terrible city car, but a decent racer. But compared to the VT5 GT, at 140-MPH plus (I-90 gets boring in South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana) I'll take a Volvo any day.

Ask the South Dakota Highway Patrol about that.
      '01 VT5 245k miles GT 3rd row ** RIP Goldilocks - Gold '01 VT5 GT 250K. I grew up in a 500k-mile Green '78 245.

I'd consider it, but I'm not anywhere near the location to test drive it and do an inspection. Is anyone local to that car and willing to check it out?

Sounds like the autobahn out there lol. Is this the solution to everything being so far apart? Guess I better get my M66D hooked up if I ever want to take a ride out that way......I don't think a M56H or a AW50-42LE would be ideal at those speeds.

It really has to do with the R.
My XC and the P80 platform is damn near indestructible...and even P2 XC's. My Saabs all lived well past where they should have...except the Viggen.
But in my ownership of my R I've realized why there's been chatter about the high maintenance of the car. Mostly because its such a high precision model, the flaws become noticeable (thinking suspension). It exposes any weakness in the chassis and is very obvious if your not making the expected Horsepower. It can be expensive to keep it in top condition.

I've also been looking into the e39 m5 platform... and that car makes the R look down right cheap to maintain.

e39 M5? Hope you like rust. There is one of those at my school that parks next to a S60 T5m and let's just say it's real easy to tell which car is better built.

Who cares about build quality when you have a 400hp V8 and 6-spd in a family sedan😂

Personally, I'd like to have an E34 M5 and I'll be a very happy man no matter how much sh*t breaks. Been hooked on that car since seeing this chase seen in Ronin years ago

Yes - tall gearing for good long "cruises"!
My z28 had some final gear ratio where I was doing 1100 rpms at 65. It was a low, low hum and as smooth as could be. And then you'd jump on it, and the thing sounded like a different car. This car reminds me of that, and I am wondering what the new exhaust I select will do to that. It's so quiet when you want to be, and then when you do a little spirited push, it's like a tornado got unleashed.

I was doing about 115-120 in my Toyota 4x4 on the way back from the beach at 3 am way back in the day (long story), and had a suspicion I should slow down before I came over the hill. Sure enough, MD smokey was waiting. Clocked me at 73 in a 55. "I'm sorry, officer..."

I was actually walking to work through foggy bottom near gw med center one morning, and saw one parked on the street. With a tree on top of it. Don't know why that tree decided to fall on that beautiful machine, but I strongly suspect that it was some sweet karma for the driver.

VW/Audi used 5 valves/cylinder in quite a few of their engines too. More intake area! But also more $$$

Don't know if this 1993 940T wagon has been posted before. Wish I had room in my garage!

Got to SD last year in my uber-comfortable 2004 V70 with sports seats. Saw "Speed Limit 80" sign and dialed the cruise up to 87. Less than ten miles later had a nice chat with a SD trooper who informed me that any speed he detected over 80 was going to get a ticket. SOP. Save the triple-digit stuff for the states further West!

Oh, and our other car is a turbo 5-series with the "Comfort" seats. A day driving the V70 is less stimulating - but lots more comfortable. If maintenance cost were of no concern, I'd go for the e39 M5. As it is, we'll likely upgrade to a used 60-series with sport seats and heated steering wheel.
