PdV Motorsports M66 high strength collar gear

I'm getting a lot of requests for this lately. I am working on a quote and will start another group buy once I have all the information I need.

      Thanks,
      Ryan M.

Free bump. Very interested in this. I had to do a lot of reading, but from what I've read this is definitely an upgrade for all M66 transmissions, not just certain years. I'm hoping other people will chime in and help generate more interest. Have you posted to any other forums?

Sorry, not finding the info easily. Tell me more, as I beat the crap out of my M66.

From what I understand the stock collar gear that comes in M66 equipped caRs doesn't have a tight enough tolerance which causes it to wear out and be a weakpoint in our drivetrain. The PDV collar gear (to quote the original post where they were in development) "is made of a very similar material to the collar from Volvo in the TF-80SC which is 3x harder than these early R collars I'm replicating" and has a tighter fit / less play which helps stop premature wear. Feel free to read the original thread http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...ar-Gear-Review

They're also meant to be a weak point you know. So you don't screw up the trans side. It's a $100 part and an hour to replace if you know what you're doing. So that's why it's weak. It's cheap and quick to replace. Instead of replacing the transmission. I bought one of these but returned it before I did my overhaul/build. Quality product but just think about it.

So then why did Volvo beef up the collar?

They only beefed up the one for the auto transmissions.

If it's critical that it's weak, then why beef it up at all on any transmission? Note, they did it on the auto trans when they switched from 5 to 6 speed. Maybe they realized they'd underdone the previous design and made it stronger since they had the opportunity at a break in parts interchangeability.

Didn't realize I wasn't getting notified people were commenting on here.

Previous group buys dropped the price down to $331 in 2014 and $285 in 2015.

I have the original prototype from 2013 and around 70k miles without an issue. I have no reported issues from nearly 100 customers.

I am certainly interested. The welded on option is cool too, but this seems more reusable, at least if the AG splines are ok.

So I don't know much about the collar gears, I have a 04 with a auto, I always hear people talking about switching the collar gears to save the angle gear. What is the alternative for the auto? Not meaning to jack the thread

There is no other option than OEM for you right now.

Noooooooo.... I was really hoping that this would come through. Looks like I'm going OEM unless we get another option in the next few days.

Any chance there's one stashed away in your garage for a rainy day somewhere???

I have a returned one that didn't fit a damaged transfer case spline. Will let it go for $200 without seals. No damage and if it doesn't fit you can get a refund.
