Miss Roxanne's Highly Anticipated and Turbotastic Polar White 1996 850 Turbo Sexy-Time Progression Comeback Fun Thread!

Like a phoenix, I rise from the ashes!

      HIT THE MUSIC!

Time to spend f*cking money, with a VENGEANCE!

Hi everyone, I'm sure by now you heard about last week's little... erm, problem. I had to bid adieu to my '02 XC who served me so well, and it really broke my heart. I swore I'd never love again!
Well kids, I bounced back, badder than ever. Of course, I get by with a little help from my friends... and that means you. I'd like to dedicate this thread to YOU, Swedespeed, because this hot little number wouldn't have been mine without any of you! And Jared, of course, my Volvo knight in shining armor, (let's be real here) this is probably the 687654th time he's saved my ass, guys, give him a high-five when you see him IRL because he had my back throughout this whole ordeal and I would probably be riding my bike to work right now without him. BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!

I'll post some pictures for now I took with my crappy droid, I'll get some nicer ones up soonish. I promised I'd wait but I just can't contain myself:

      It's the real deal, kids!

I'm getting the following done Wednesday, post snowstorm:

      1. - Timing belt
      2. - Oil leakage

And afterwards, I want to fix the odometer and find out the real mileage.

The PO (the one-time owner who purchased it in '96, no joke!) had a lot of work done to it, and it has a brand spankin' new turbo, I had a very nice person carfax me up to back up on the service stuff.

      More to come later!

YES YES YES!!! I'll get joy from you reconditioning your 850, while mine awaits a good parts car. I'm glad you chose that one and keep us updated!

Thanks gentlemen. I won't let you down! I'm still feeling sad, but, aw heck, I'll get over it.

Hey Jared, I figured out a theme for our shoot, can we reenact this:

I have 10 so we could make 3 sets if someone wanted to grab these https://longisland.craigslist.org/wto/5982099070.html ......then I'd just have to get TJ to give me back the one I got for him so I can still have a spare since he's not using Volans anymore LOL.

But it did come with a set of Columbias wrapped in Potenza summers so things could be worse.

Crap, let's wait for another 60 degree day in that case... I mean, I could wear a ushanka and a parker but it would take away from the "model" aspect.

Volans and NE don't mix they're too soft. If you're going "big" comets, pegs (gasp), various enkei and p2 wheels (Thors, talos) are your best bet since they won't bend at the sight of a pothole. Sucks for us really

Only if you're actually hitting the holes .

That said, this is the great thing about having a TURBO/T5: it's a blank canvas on which to create whatever you want. There really isn't a compelling reason not to go with a stronger wheel unless you have some attraction to a particular P80 wheel. It's not like a R where there is a pre-defined image of what it's supposed to be and anything else just seems kinda weird.

I want to see a set of P3 S60 T5 Balders bored out on an 850. Like a 17" Perfo would be. Ugly on the S60 but could be cool.

Indeed you have ... you've got a T5 baby!!! Well technically a Turbo since the T5 moniker didn't happen until '97.

YOU DARE INSULT THE N/A with it's 168 powerful, great sounding horsepower?!?!

I think a manual N/A wagon is one of the classiest 850's, next to the turbo wagon.

      very nice... an unmolested 850.

you may not like the old-fashioned windshield washer fluid jets with the weak twin stream, especially if your previous car was an '02 XC.

get the jets from a 99-00 P80 car, and if you want to go with the all-red tail lights, the 98-00 V70 tail lights will drop right in.

Good choice, the N/A's typically have less problems and they'll keep your son from the vicious, money grabbing pirañas that we call speeding tickets.

Hell yeah, get the roof rails and a wing. Makes it look 100x cooler.

Wing reduces your drag coefficient (), too, so better fuel economy.

lol dude you live in Wisconsin. You could drive a Mitsubishi Mirage around there and it'd be ok. A manual NA is adequate around here, but I wouldn't want an automatic. Go on street view and check out some of the insane entrance ramps we have around here. Imagine entering into heavy traffic flowing at about 65 mph.........from a stop sign.....on a steep uphill.......with a merge lane about 400 ft long. Go to NYC and it's just as bad. You can keep up in a manual NA, but barely, and you'll be using all 168 bhp at times. I'm not gonna lie, though; it is fun working to get all 168 bhp out the NA and that sound with the stock exhaust is glorious when you wind it all the way up 6,200 rpm . If my 850s sounded that good with stock exhaust, I wouldn't want to go aftermarket!

Oh my, imagine the heads I'll turn!
I drive an automatic for the confidence factor. I learned on a manual when I was about fourteen but I'd need to get used to it again, it's been a very long time since I've used a stick. I'd be afraid to stall out -_-

LOL. This is actually one of the reasons I didn't want a white R. I had a couple people offer me white R estates at fantastic prices after my red/tan R got hit and I was like "nah I'll lose it in a giant white mound."

Boston has good music and good sailing. If it wasn't for those things, getting out of here would be a pretty easy choice.

      I bought my 2013 NA.

I was saddened over the lack of a turbo that I did just that, but I couldn't decide which year so I got both 2006 and 2007 and called it done.

Boston has good music and good sailing. If it wasn't for those things, getting out of here would be a pretty easy choice.
You all should visit Milwaukee, where we get not as much snow as you, but we're the REAL Windy City for sure!

Oh I've been there. I know one of the guys who was very involved with fixing your roads up, too. But what is up with that wind?

When it comes to sojourning south, I've been as far as Pennsylvania, Baltimore and Naples, FL -- all during the summer. I'd like to be able to vacation during the winter some day, for sure.

Naples is the best during winter.

jppetersonatl and I drove down to Naples in his Nautic Blue XC, Kurd. We had a blast. Lots of alcohol was consumed on beaches.
