      XC60 17 or new 18? ... Or V90..

      Hello all,

I am debating between a older gen XC60 MY17 or wait for an MY18. I know they are a few dealers with lots of good info here so here it goes:

My 2012 XC60 was just totalled while crossing the Atlantic a few weeks ago (smoke damage).

Sooo I need a new car...
They are great offers on the '17 but It seems they are no more sunroof option? Is that corrrect? I do not see it anywhere anymore.
Also the all black dash is not as nice as the older version I had on the 2012 (I'll go for a beige interior). The single dial instead of the double instrument panel also looks cheapish (same as V40!). I expect 2 full dials (speed and tachometer) for such a car (the MY 18 is getting the second dial back). So basically the MY is very nice but some details are a little disappointing and feels like the wrong direction fcompared to my old MY12.

The MY18 is all redesigned of course and looks amazing but I hear that even ordering now (no prices released yet) would not get me a car before Sept / Oct (pick up in Gothenburg so I save some travel I guess). Is that correct?
Also, rear volume is important to me with folded seat. Did it really get reduced by 4" from the previous gen or I am reading this wrong?

Off course I have also had a V90 on pre-order for a few months that I was about to cancel thinking it was not reasonnable (pricewise) but I still could go that route...

      Decisions...

Any input regarding the MY17? Wait and get a MY18 (I'll need a filler car in between)

If you need more space, the 90 is beautiful.

Just looked at a V90 CC this morning what a beautiful vehicle!

The 2017 XC60 is still a very sharp looking vehicle!

I am really liking our 2017 T5 Dynamic AWD. I find the 'Performance' theme screen works well for me (tach with digital speed in center), while my wife likes the 'Eco' theme (it changes depending on which key is present).

I do note that there are relatively few reliability issues posted on this forum compared to the new XC90 forum. Hopefully the 2018 XC60 will not repeat this pattern.

If you don't like the '17 model dash then maybe look for a used one more similar to the one you lost. If you decide to wait for the new one then you will need to wait for it, pay a premium price as there is typically very little discounting initially, and deal with the normal first year teething issues.

If I'm not mistaken, the sunroof is standard on the 2017.

Yes. Thank you all for the advice. The choice was precipiated Yesterday as we were shopping for a used car while waiting for the new one we'd get to pick up at the end of the summer in Europe.
We were gonna spend little but instead ended with... A MY 15 V60 T5 AWD (Premier with various add on, old 5 cylinder). So on the budget front, that definitely kills the V90 or even the XC60-18 as a second car later this year. Technically, after several hours on the new gauge cluster, I came to appreciate it. I'd prefer a more upscale one but it's surprisingly pleasant, quick and informative.
So yes, very happy with the used car purchase and looking forward to an MY17 hopefully to complete the family later this year

Take some extended test drives in a XC90 or V90 Cross Country to see if you truly like using the touch screen. The large Sensus interface is great technology but it is not for everyone. There is an XC90 owner on a recent family vacation that had their young child throw something at the screen and it became disabled.

The MY18 is a beautiful vehicle but the MY17 still looks sharp, especially with the Polestar accessory parts added. The Drive-E T6 powertrain is the same, except the T8 will be available for MY18.

I am also debating my next Volvo. I am considering a couple "legacy" models as well as the new MY18 XC60. A V90 Cross Country is an amazing wagon after experiencing it on a press drive through the Arizona desert. Its just outside of my budget.

It is a great time to shop for a new Volvo as there are plenty of legacy models as well as an increasing number of new models in the pipeline.

I just had new brakes and rubber put on my '13 XC60 T6, they gave me a '17 XC60 T6 AWD as a loaner. I just cannot buy into these 4 bangers, plus that start-stop engine crap has got-to-go! I just invested some serious coin into my '13 T6 with 75K on the clock. I would like to run it to 100K, or beyond! The new '18 XC60 looks great (the new T6 with 320 hp sounds promising), I think a better fit for me would be the '16 V60 CC T5 AWD (the old classic styling w/ a 5 cylinder), I had a loaner on this one, it was pretty magnificent in it's own right, or maybe even an XC40, can't wait to see that one! Volvo for life!!!

I can't stop to think my new (used) V60 (2015) is much more "plastic looking" than my 2012 XC60. Might just be in my head but the handles inside do not feel as crisp (new mechanism?), the console feels like it has more hard plastic. Is it all in my head?
Anyhow, a dealer told me the folding seat option is gone on MY17 "Quick-Fold Front Seat , Code 298 ". And probably wont appear either on MY18 (too early to tell?). That seriously hinders cargo capacity and is a bad direction for people who want versatility without having to drive an F150. He also think that it is a simple mechanical system that should be retrofittable. Has anyone experience with the quick fold system?

      Thank you.

Wait until the 2018 comes out. If you do not like it, then you will probably be able to get a great deal on the leftover 2017s as dealers will be anxious to liquidate them. Best wishes!

I have a timing issue though. I need to be able to pick up the car in Europe for mid-late August (will drive it there 4-5 months with Swedish Export plates , ~ $900 cost, nice option). I think the M18 is out because of that. I see scheduled delivery for some euro guys already having ordered theirs in the October time frame, that is assuming no delays!.

So MY17 I guess. Would dealers have complete assembly diagrams of the seats?

      Thank you.

In the DC Metro market, there is $3,550 incentive money plus $1000 owner loyalty on 2017 XC60s - $4,550 off plus 0% financing for 60 months.
