NEW PRODUCT Release: Volvo pCRV Upgrade, Volvo T6/Drive-E

ViVA Performance has released a mechanical Compressor Bypass Valve Upgrade for the Volvo 3.0L T6 and 2.0L Drive-E Engines.

To address the multiple design and functional flaws present in the factory electronic compressor valve (eCRV), ViVA Performance designed a pneumatic compressor re-circulation valve (pCRV) as a 100% direct replacement for the factory eCRV. The pCRV is 100% designed and manufactured in the USA, using a high-quality rubber diaphragm, heavy-duty spring, and N-butyl, oil resistant o-rings.

The Volvo SI6 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged engine and 2.0L 4-Cylinder Drive-E engines use a simple, eCRV to recirculate boost pressure when the throttle body plate is closed. Over time, the factory eCRV unit is prone to mechanical failures, such as ripped diaphragms or a stuck/ seized piston. They are also not designed to handle higher boost pressures on heavily modified vehicles. The ECU is designed to release boost through the eCRV like in an “on/off” switch, requiring the turbocharger to spool back up to full boost pressure when required. There is also a delay between when the throttle plate closes and the eCRV releases pressure. This can result in decreased performance and a pesky check engine light (CEL). To top it off, when your factory eCRV fails, Volvo does not sell this part separately, and you would have to purchase an entire new turbocharger unit.

I've only been driving a couple of days with this part installed but believe that there is definitely a power boost. I hear the turbo spool up quite distinctly but haven't heard a blow off yet... Although it's been raining and the windows have been closed. I'll give it a couple of weeks for a better report.

My go to mechanic installed the item and it came with a clear 30 step process PDF of instructions. He said that it wasn't hard but it took some time.
Sorry, my personal mechanic skills are not that high so I can't really report more.

Pity you haven't been able to do a before and after Dyno to see if there are any actual measurable gains to this Mod. Is anyone else thinking of installing this? If so are you willing to do a before and after Dyno, I am sure lots here would be very interested in the results.

I am going to say that I feel that the throttle response has increased. I really should have gauged the vehicle more before I added the part to see the contrast but I had only had the vehicle for a couple of months before adding the part. I am constantly street racing the vehicle so since the install I feel it has more response than previously. I do hear a high pitched whistle sound when accelerating with the windows open that I dont remember hearing before the installation. It isnt an expensive upgrade, so just knowing that the part fixes the flaw that is there and you get more response from it seems like it is worth the effort of getting it.
