      Rain sensing wipers

Am I using my rain sensing wipers incorrectly or is it broken? When I press the button on the stalk it turns on green briefly and then turns off, and I get One Sweep of the wiper blades. I tried holding the button in, and putting the stalk in different positions, as well as turning the knob but it has no effect

Sounds like the sensor is messed up. Do you have an aftermarket windshield? Mine does the same thing

It's entirely possible - I hadn't considered it. I bought the car (2006 S80) a year ago from the original owner. Ah well, so much for rain-sensing wipers hahahah.

Don't know if vida/dice would tell you, but that sounds weird. Like it does have an aftermarket windshield and the sensors isn't working. I have these on my vr and the s60 and they work really well. Light remains on, and they fly when needed, turn essentially off when not.

Vida should throw a code. I know that mine does, I just haven't gotten around to tinkering with the sensor to see what may be wrong.

So it would require a specific windshield? I don't know how it determines the intensity of the rain....

Not that it needs a specific windshield, but from my own research, care is needed when re applying the sensor. And most places will not reinstall it properly. Some people have aftermarket windshields and have no problems, other have problems. I've heard you can try to remove it and install it and have it work if done properly. I've heard that it measures the refraction through the windshield, but not too sure about that
