\nHmm, well turning off my DRLs probably isn\'t that interesting, lol!
\nYou can also program things like how the alarm sounds off and for how long. Also how long the approach lighting stays on before dimming out.

\r\nAuto fold mirrors or close windows/sunroof when closing or car or ignition off, adjust mirrors on engaging reverse, open windows/sunroof with different presses on keyfob, auto-enable seatheater(s) when temp is under X, custom messaging on DIM, gauge-sweep, close doors at X mph, extended settings for DRL and approach lighting, configure different settings for winter/summer, and so on, and so on.\r\n

\nI\'ve highly considered getting the Canbus Function Extender myself as well. It\'s sold by Viva for just under $300. They have 3 different connection options for it depending on MY. BUT, certain functions I believe will require additional parts, like the mirror folding option, I\'m not aware of the side mirrors coming with motors already in them to allow them to self fold that are not activated...\r\n

\nYeah, those all can\'t be done with VIDA to my knowledge, only with the CFE. From VIDA, you can do a DIM function test however which will illuminate all of the check lights and sweep the gauges to make sure everything is working correctly. If VIDA could do what the CFE does, I\'d be a totally happy camper, lol!!\r\n

\nThat is correct...I added them to my wife\'s \'04 V70...covers come off of the original mirrors but the guts of the folding mirrors you buy have a motor in them...they all just connect up easily, then you have to go to the dealer and pay them to enable them...I was told a software download but maybe it\'s just using VIDA without a download. Back several years ago when I did this, I didn\'t know any difference.\r\n

\nThe motor is in the new units you buy...the originals that are on your car do not have motors in them. These are mirrors for the euro and japanese market originally.\r\n

\r\n Ok I gotcha, so completely new mirrors, not just adding in a motor to the existing ones. Still neat though.

\nYou have to take your covers off as well as the glass mirror and snap both onto the guts that you buy...If you want concave glass, this is the time to change them out. I sold the guts of my old mirrors to guys who lost them somehow so I did recoup 60 or $70 for each one.\r\n

\r\nYou might find them for cheaper. I recall back about 10 years ago I installed these saving $$ by doing it myself (which wasn\'t difficult) but then had to pay the dealer like $120 to get them to work. I remember that at least back then I could have bought them from the dealer and have them install them and it would have been about the same price. If I recall correctly, I think I bought mine from Boston Volvo.\r\n
