Unfortunately my wife was rear-ended on the freeway the other day. She's fine but our S60 has its first battle scar at barely a year old. The cosmetic damage is limited to scratches and gouges on the rear bumper (and also noticed the BLIS/speaker housing got knocked out of alignment with the impact), but I'm curious if there is any obvious way to know if WHIPS engaged. She felt a pretty forceful impact despite the limited damage. The manual just says to have it checked by a licensed Volvo specialist, but in lieu of that, are there any immediate indicators that I or the repair shop could see, or would they even think to check? I already got the initial damage estimate but hadn't thought about this at the time. I don't drive her car all that often but today the seat felt more reclined/dropped than usual, but may just be imagining things.
