How about throwing out the options/packaging pricing. Granted $41,500 is a great start but for a Volvo its all about the packaging.
      The old - 2001 S60 totaled, 2003 XC90, 2004 S80, 2005 TSX, 2006 S60, 2009 V70, 2010 S80 totaled, 2012 C30 T5 OSD-sold but kept it in the family.

Standard equipment is good, but nowhere near what I'd like in my car.

Add about $6-10K and that's the price

You cannot get luxury seat package (backrest massage in front seat) in 2018 XC60 R design ? I tried on USA Volvo website. Only can get it in Inscription trim for $3000. So I guess no R design for me 😂😢

    7. #5
XC90 R Design is the same way.

Not loving how the options are bundled - basically have to get all 4 packages because each has one thing I consider a must (at least on R-design). And where's the bursting blue?!

The HUD and 360 degree camera are now in a $1.9k advanced pkg. I'll probably skip it. This is the profit generator.

Convenience and vision pkg are much more useful to me.

Luxury pkg is also quite hefty to me. It is mostly for the ventilates seats which is $1400 on XC90 without massage seats.

Hmm, bursting blue wasn't showing up on the RD configurator on my mobile. Is it exclusive to T6 and higher? I was pricing a T5.

Update: that does appear to be the case - not an option on T5 but does show up on T6.

these prices with options are sky high, a fully loaded Q5 is 55,000 and i'm sure the next gen X3 will be in line with that. They need to take out the massage function, and allow a ventilated seat like on the XC90 without a massage.

I just realized that they did away with the integrative booster seats as well. Small little thing, but made life so much easier with two kids

Inscription ones are too expensive, IMO, for the equipment it comes with.

Fully loaded T6 Momentum (the way I'd want to equip it for my wife) would be $56,840 and that's still missing the 4C suspension...
It's just too expensive, I feel like.

Maybe the lease deals in a year will be good enough, but as of right now - nuh uh.

So, how much off of MSRP can we expect on this new model? Anyone with prior experience dealing with Volvo? Noobe here.

    24. #22
I'm struggling to get to a feature by feature comparison without a ton of work but the "loaded" Q5 is comparable to the T5, due to the drivetrain, so I'm seeing the T5 about 10% cheaper than the Q5. And the SQ5 is maybe the same price as the T8, with no hybrid option. And none of the Audis have an 8 speed transmission, if you're into that. Oh, and the XC60 is bigger.

But yeah, at this price point, Volvo used to be more like 15-20% cheaper. Let's talk when the Q5 platform supports hybrid.
2009 Polestar C70 M66 Passion Red/Graphite/Aluminum - Volvo Strut bar, Volvo wind blocker, K&N, ECU Spacer, e-Focus torque mount, JBRacing RSB, Moog Mazdaspeed end links, 722908030 Porsche TCV, Silicone IC Hose Kit, Koni FSD, need to mount 31338475 IC. Next: downpipe, Rica stage 2.
      2011 XC60 3.2L Barents Blue/Anthracite/Aluminum - rings/pistons at 35k, new engine at 50k.

      Expensive!?!

Is anyone else a bit disappointed by the pricing here?

I need to find out more about the differences between the Momentum and Inscription (Nav and Instrument Panel included on Inscription, anything else?) Is there a link that helps?

The pricing difference against the XC90 is just much less than I was hoping. The Convenience Package is a must have for me, but other than that I just want to change the paint color.

      XC90 Momentum - $56,490
      XC60 Inscription - $52,290
      XC60 Momentum - $48,690

Without doing the math, I'm about 90% certain I could lease an XC90 for the same as the XC60 Inscription given that there is some flexibility on the MSRP for XC90 and that MF is probably going to be much better (at least for the first few months).

Pricing is right on top of the Q5, and I can get the Bang & Olufsen stereo upgrade for $950 as opposed to the $3k!!!! for the B&W.

I'm disappointed. I think Volvo is getting a bit greedy here with their pricing. They want to play with the big boys, but I'm not sure they can command the same premium. The XC90 prices out a few grand below the Q7.

I don't know. I was really looking forward to this. Unless the lease and residuals are good out of the gate, I think people are going to have a hard time swallowing the pricing.

XC60 made in China is for Asian market only.
S90L and current (old) S60L are the only models exported to USA from China.

No, the US versions will be made in Sweden. They may move some production to the new US plant in the future.

The current X3's loaded are more than that. An X3 28i can hit $60k and the 35i can hit mid $60's. Yeah, the Q5 may be a little cheaper but it's also smaller and Volvo's tech and safety are better.

There are times when I think Volvos are getting too expensive. My 2003 XC90 FWD was only $39,455 with wheels and a few packages (retail). But I forget that the price of all cars is up. When you compare a loaded Momentum or Inscription T5 (no luxury seats, BW or air susp.) you are around $51.4-52.6K. A prestige Q5 with cold weather and adaptive cruise pkg is $53,675. A GLC with much of the same options is $56,025. Even the very aging RDX with no pano roof or heated rear seats/wheel is $44,795. So from that perspective Volvos are priced aggressively. Content for content I think they are priced better than those I mentioned. Throw in the OSD pricing and it looks even better.

      Thanks - that's very helpful.

I had another post here that might be waiting in mod queue - but the OSD paperwork appears to show the the 4C suspension is part of Inscription package?
