Used connectors and parts for door handle lights?

      Hi all,

I'd really like to add the lights to the door handles and maybe door pockets in my '09, but the idea of giving the dealer $180 for the parts is slowing me down a bit, especially when I still have a large bill looming for my starting problem.

At the least, it seems a little insane to spend almost $60 on just the connectors for the lights when the same connectors HAVE to have been used elsewhere in the car (and presumably other models).

Now that these cars are getting older, do any of you guys with parts cars have access to this sort of thing for less money? OR do you know if those connectors/lights are used on P2s? I checked the junkyards around me, but apparently the P3s are still a bit new to show up in the Pull-a-Parts. I doubt that a "recycler" would bother pulling a couple connectors.

For reference, the part numbers are:
      30682794 (connector)
      30790449 (door handle light)
      30790803 (door pocket/footwell light)

      Thanks!

All those years of being able to open a drawer in my garage and get any connector (or any other part) I need for a 240 spoiled me. That's what I get for changing models.

Swedish forum but I'm fairly confident there are pictures in there somewhere of people who have installed regular LED's instead of Volvos solution. http://www.jagrullar.se/forum/viewto...p?f=56&t=56814

I went the OEM route, mostly to not have to deal with finding the right LED color, brightness etc.

I have never seen a Volvo with door handle lamps. I doubt there are many with them and thus the odds of finding in the recycle yards are slim. They look nifty, but I do not think they are worth the expense and time to install. Good Luck.

If I do it, I'll definitely do OEM.

I don't expect to find the lamps themselves necessarily, though there IS a chance that they're used elsewhere. We already know that the BLIS indicators use the same setup (but the wrong color). I'm mainly wondering about the connectors. Volvos don't tend to use one-off parts for much of anything, so I can't believe that those little connectors are only on the BLIS and the door handle lights. There are a LOT of things to connect across the whole Volvo range (and maybe Land Rovers and Fords too, for that matter - I don't know how much crosses over).

It drives me crazy to have lenses with no lights behind them and holes in the door panel. I know. I'm weird. That's why I drive a Volvo wagon.

I looked them up a while ago: JAE IL-AG9

(edit: link to forum post didn't work properly, link comes from post #120 in this topic)

(edit2: FYI: Many connectors in our cars are JAE IL-AG5 type

AMAZING- Thanks! I've read that thread a bunch of times but never clicked the link. So what Volvo charges around $10 for is $0.33 and the price goes down for more. It looks like 10 shipped to CT is $7.29. Wow, that's crazy. Of course the only place I can find that sells them is backordered , but still.

I don't suppose you found either of the lights that way, did you? If there are more, this might be worth adding to the sticky (alternate numbers/sources for OE parts).

No, I haven't checked for the lights. I, myself ordered the connector housings and pins from the Volvo dealer. I only looked them up after I received them.

These connectors are available from companies as Mouser, digikey, Farnell, etc. Haven't checked their current inventories though.

The illuminated sills are an accessory from Volvo: http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-...-321745-1/2008
Fits any S80 / V70 / XC70, although some connectors will not fit directly on later model years due to changes.

And that's just the cables, the sills themselves are about as much again ;/

While on the topic of connectors, any one that happens to know if there's an easy way to install the newer footwell lights (3 pin) on the older models (2 pin)?
