XC body cladding painted body color

So, Adam and Mr Magic have been making waves with painting their body cladding body color. The other day I had a customer who also had a car painted the same way, but they purchased it new that way. They were told that the painted cladding was done by the dealer as an experiment. The production date was April of 2001 and it was purchased September of 2001.

And yes, JRL, I'm not forgetting you. I know you had it done too.

Have there been other examples over the years? Were there other cars painted at the dealership as experiments upon introduction?

I'm almost certain I've seen a very early production xc90 in that same ugly gold with painted body cladding too.

      Any thoughts?

The body painted cladding is the reason I despise the luxury package on the new V90CC. An XC needs the dark cladding to give it that rugged look

It looks good if it's done properly AND lowered with bigger wheels and tires. I should have done this but this was for my wife and leaving it alone just made life easier (and less expensive)!

Unfortunately, I can't take any credit for that. It was someone else's creative efforts.

But happy Father's day you lovable troll! We all love you in one way or another.

I erased the personal information off the photo for the sake of your privacy. I have it if it's really desired to be all public...

But hah, no one but Skywolf has said anything about body cladding do far.

I'm shocked to see that photo too. You didn't seem like someone with a GED

I guess I'm the only one who likes the painted cladding? Black plastic looks unfinished to me; why I made sure to find an XC70 in Black.
