      Cleaning INSIDE of windshield

Any tips? It seems no matter what combination of toweling, and cleaners I use, I always end up with a streaky haze an hour or two later....

Are vinegar and newspapers the REAL solution?

Re: Cleaning INSIDE of windshield (apl175)

I've had the same problem with numerous cars. Looks clean, 2 days later the window is all streaked.

Tried all the stuff out there and still had the problem. Finally cured it by using the blue windshield washer fluid - the cheap stuff that costs 99 cents a gallon.

I also quit using my old soft terrycloth towels because they go through our regular wash and were impregnated with fabric softener and anti-static agents. Now I use paper towels - the cheapest I can find, no printing, no fragrance.

Seems to work very well. I use the washer fluid full strength in a spray bottle. I does have some alcohol in it, so I try to keep it off the trim and quickly wipe the overspray off the top of the dash before I wipe the windshield.

      Hope this works for you.

The best thing I have noticed is to clean the inside of windows/windshield out of direct sunlight and while the interior temp is not very hot. That way it won't evaporate as quickly and streak as much.

NO NO NO, you guys have it all wrong.
      There are 2 surefire methods.
I have been using (Gold Seal) glass wax all my life until the company finally went out of business, I now use a new product, works just as well.
      This makes it 100% clean.
The other is: use a windex type of glass cleaner wiped off with newpaper, no kidding
This is a link to a company that makes a new glass polish/wax and works as well as my "old glass wax"
http://gel-gloss.com/ Good luck, check out their
      no streak glass polish"

      nilglas is the only one
nill glass means there is no glass after you have finsihed

Have to agree with JRL on this. A guy at a picture framing place once showed me his technique for cleaning glass (it's important to them). The trick was to crumple a sheet of newspaper inside a backing of paper towel for wiping the glass. Beats me why it works but it seems to.

Couldn't agree more - I've been detailing cars since I was a teenager and this is a cheap and highly effective method!

Newspaper is definately the best way to clean anything glass.
JRL, I havn't tried this yet, but it might be a good alternative to standard newspapers:

Newsprint paper used as shipping fill.

      I haven't used a newspaper in 30 years, that's how far back I've been using glass polish/wax

Try an alcohol based cleaner such as Sprayway. Leaves a lot less streaks. Combine that with newspaper as JRL said and it's clean combo.
