I'm planning huge GTG to start off the season. We will have free food/drinks courtesy of Bavaria R. Spang Gang is cooking.

Besides Germany folks (Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Ramstein, Spangdahlem, Munich) looking forward to seeing wrxowner/KVB from England, Johann and crew from Le Pays-Bas, Ben and crew from Belgique, and our favorite Fin, JC.

Working on getting sponsors to donate goodies again - George, Scott, Chris, Keith, Alan that means you . We will be raffling off free laps as well!

Dates subject to change if I get sent to Iraq in May, but our baby is due 7 April, so kind of crunched for dates.

Please don't vote if you aren't serious about coming. Stateside folks are welcome, I'm sure someone will give you a ride around the ring.

I hate all of you. You hear me!?!? ALL of you lucky bastards who get to do a GTG at the 'Ring.

Seriously, have fun!!! Take lots of pics and videos so we can all drool. I was fortunate enough to go to Bavaria and Austria on my honeymoon, but I couldn't talk my wife into going to the 'Ring. Well, it was Oktoberfest, so it wasn't a total loss!

You guys should form a GTG for the 24 hrs of Nurburgring weekend, June 15-18. I'll be there driving for Heico Sportiv!

Why don't you take the S40 on the ring a week before.
I could take a camera with me and drive circles around your S40 to make some nice shots...

Glad you asked . Believe it or not I'm already tasked for most of April , but I do have 29-30 still open and I'm blocking them off for the GTG right now .

Hey Kelly, I'm most definately planning on going. I did think it was going to be at the end of May so I scheduled leave for the last two weeks of May. Either way, I'm planning on going and will adjust my schedule accordingly . Just curious, is there any 3 day weekends at all during the month of april/may? It would be a great to know ahead of time as those weekends will be favoured by most GI's that are going.

Also my parents will be visiting some time in april, so I might have to drag them with me... My Dad would be stoked to go to the track for sure, moms on the other hand

There will be lots of GTGs this year I'm sure (averaged 1 a month last year) but this one is different because we have a budget and we are doing a BBQ setting, specifically to make it more family friendly. Maybe we can get a big awning to set up as well out on the grassy area.

Before posting this I checked, but public track days/times aren't posted on Nurburgring site yet. I haven't seen "family days" projected yet from USAFE, are there any federal holidays in April?

Easter. It's on April 16, so I will/would definately shoot for that weekend as we should have some sort of three dayer.

Easter isn't a federal holiday, but we generally get a "Family Day" on the Monday following. If our baby is born early, I may be able to make that weekend (he is due 7 April).

JR, sounds great! We can definitely do our June GTG while you are there. A number of people have your T-Shirt, wouldn't mind getting your actual signature on it,

Or on the R Calendar that has AtSpeed race car

If I am in Germany in April I'll be there no matter what the date finally ends up being...

I may make it. I missed all of the GTGs last year due to work, deployment, or vacation. I may sell or trade the car by then. It depends on where my next assignment is.

The 15-16 April seems best for European attendees as these dates are in the middle of School holydays (Easter). For the working guys of us Friday and Monday are catholic holidays at least for some German regions and may be Belgium?

I will bring my two children this time to the Ring, whether I take them for a ride on the Ring will dependent on there willingness and the weather.

In addition to the drink / food sponsorship (money from the DP auctioning last year) I will make available 2 watches for the raffle (see picture) one super cool Chronograph from Eibach Springs and a Kienzle Aviator watch.

APRIL 15-16 IT IS!! (hopefully there won't be some event that takes over the Nordschleiffe)

Will work out the details as we get closer, but plan on event being over both days. We'll probably BBQ on one day, and hit the pizza parlor on the next.

I'm looking into renting a tent/awning to set up on the lawn so family members can hang out while we are on the track/BBQing. Bring frisbees/blankets/lawn chairs as well. Maybe we can have some awards for best mod, best looking or something. Hard because cars get covered in bugs on the way there.

But let me know if you have ideas. I'm likely to agree to most anything right now, very hard to think. I can't believe people intentionally put themselves in this state..

Sounds good! Lets hope the weather will be kind. Its more than likely not going to be horribly warm up there mid April though guys...when I read the plans I'm thinking 25C on a sunny day on the lawn with the yellow flowers out, but mid april its more likely to be 5-10C up there lol

Everyone is welcome, I just ask that non-Rs park in a different row because we take pictures.

Like all P2s together, and all the classic volvos together. Appeals to my sense of organization.

Even have friends in non-volvos that come out (I ask them to park two rows over).

Scroll up the thread, to see number interested, or look at poll #s, there is no official "sign up", will poll R Gang with e-mail since a lot of you all don't post on SS.

Yes, most definately! I found out my parents decided to go to Palm Springs to visit some old friends so there won't be any issues with tag alongs that don't want to race around a track. I'm going to set my leave up and start searching for the best way to get over there.

BTW- Greece, Italy and Azores was awsome! Give me a call when you can.

A tent is a good idea, but I guess we need to move then to one of the official parking / camping / grill areas around the track... and someone close to the track needs to check if we would need any prior authorization?

Those spots would have the advantage that the non racers could watch us flying by on the track. Does some one know a nice spot around the track which would suite the requirements?

Why? Seems to be a lot of open space in the grassy parking area. We gaggle out there all the time. What is the difference if we set up a tent to shade us while we gaggle.

Other people park their RVs back there, and their big ol trailers...

You know Germany is a country with a lot of "funny" and "annoying" rules, remember the TüV (Car Control before being allowed to run it on German streets). I just want to make sure nobody is coming by and ask us to tear down the tent again while grilling...

The idea of going out to a spot on the track came when I was thinking of all the people which don't run on the Ring (e.g. Family).

Our traditional spot is fine too

I think I saw signs forbidding the use of open fire.
