HU-1205 on V40, 1999, few wires contact places missed,

Hi
I have bought Autoleads PC6-073 car hands free support kit for my Volvo V40/1999 and HU-1205 sat nav/radio.
I installed it today (all for with Sony-Eriksson HCA-60/K800i mobile).
The problem is that my Volvo V40 TDi/1999 has no radio DIN Volvo grey and green connectors as they have been cut/deinstalled by previous car owner, only a bunch of diff. coloured wires, so I was forced to reverse engineering all Volvo radio connectors for HU-1205.
Most was found and successfully paired with Autoleads DIN connectors, but few were missed.
Could someone help me?
I don't know/find where it should be connected on Radio/Autoleads:
From Volvo car side:
- Green - to B4 on speedometer, was on pin 7 according to radio wiring scheme
Probably, Volvo automatic audio level control by car speed
What is its place on Green connector?
- Yellow/white, was on pin 10 according to radio wiring scheme, going to B2/B3 Central Electric module.
What is its place on Green connector?
- Yellow/red, was on pin 13 according to radio wiring scheme, going to J10 on passenger compartment fuse & relay box
What is its place on Green connector?
====================
From Autoleads side:
- Double Red (+12V) - to ignion/switch - does it mean Volvo V40 has no such wire on its green DIN on radio connector, and I must disassemble the wheel box to get an access to ignion switch??
- Orange, marked "illumination, dash light" ?
- Brown, marked "Dimmer" ??
===================
remote Audio Autoleads contacts, probably
red/white, pin 3 Green DIN Connector ??Function???
yellow/green, pin 7 Green DIN Connector ??Function???
grey/red, pin 5 Green DIN ??Function???
black/red, pin 8 Green DIN ??Function???
black/brown, pin 10 Green DIN Connector ??Function???

This may help:

The 'hidden wire' has a red color.

Note that you're looking at the female connector. The contacts in the picture are grouped as:

A6 A5 A4 A3 A2 A1
A12 A11 A10 A9 A8 A7

And this is what they mean:
A1 - Supply
A2 - Switched supply
A3 - Rheostat signal (Signal from the central electronic module (CEM). An increased pulse ratio gives greater luminance. (If there is no rheostat signal, there will be maximum luminance in the audio module)
A4 - Speed signal (Pulsed signal from the combined instrument panel. Frequency increases with increase in speed.)
A5 - Back-up (reversing) lamp switch, input signal (The back-up (reversing) lamp switch must be activated when reverse gear is engaged.)
A6 - Carphone mute
A7 - n.c.
A8 - Power ground
A9 - Remote control signal ON/OFF (Remote control:antenna amplifier (V40), power antenna (S40), Bass speaker (V40) (Integrated power stage).)
A10 - n.c.
A11 - n.c.
A12 - Power ground

You are saying you have 1999 V40, isn't that the 1st phase models? Those came with SC- radios, not HU-s like 2nd phase models. And I doubt they are interchangeable due to central electronic module.

Hi, and thanks a lot, it should really help me.
Yes, I can confirm that pin 6 works as mute for my version of HU-1205, when Sony-Er Kit HCA-60/K800i got a call, HU-1205 will be muted, and show the word "Telephone" on its screen.

I also discovered that there are two versions of HU-1205 - with one and with two DIN connectors as in HU-803 on rear. Mine is with one.
Left first one is for CD-changer, second - I have no idea, may be for external amplifier or TV/DVD.

Yes, I see, indeed, I've got your message with full wiring of HU-1205 diagramme for external connectors. Thank you.

Could Volvo people with audio wheel control (S40, V40 after 2000 etc.) confirm the fact HU-1205 has "wheel audio remote control"? Next-previous, play-pause.
If No, what HU- has? Say, HU803, no?

Another question where is possible to buy HU-1205 Hirose antenna connector Volvo uses for? I checked Hirose dealers, they have no in stock
GT5-2S-HU (755-0044-1)..
I checked also Volvo reverse antenna adapters and don't find any with dual female GT5-2S-HU.

Yep, same here.

The 2nd is for an external amp.

A10 - n.c.
A11 - n.c.
A12 - Power ground

There is also explanation of the pins on this page: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=16735
And it says:
A1: +30 supply (constant)
A2: +15 supply (switched)
A7: CANBUS High
A8: CANBUS Low
A9: antenna amplifier Power
A10: Center Channel +
A11: Center -
A12: Ground

Almost the same, except for A7, A8, A10, A11, where the A8 is most confusing to me: Canbus Low or Power ground

Hmm..
Which is main idea of Canbus presence on HU-1205/HU-xyz? To inform central comp. about CDROM rotation speed and radio oscillator deviation?
To display some car monitoring information?

Yet, I found another info about connector, from this page, post #10: http://www.volvospeed.com/vs_f...inear
Where it says:

A1 - Permanent battery +
A2 - Ignition switched power
A3 - Dashboard light control (Rheostat)
A4 - Accelerator (for ASC)
A5 - n/c
A6 - Telephone Mute
A7 - CAN H (no idea what this is)
A8 - CAN L (ditto)
A9 - Antenna power
A10 - Ctrl +
A11 - Ctrl -
A12 - Ground

Again, we have at least A10 and A11 becoming interesting

A10 and A11 are used for the central speaker which is not present on all HU models or cars.

About CAN connection to HU:
The CANbus is not present on the HU1205.

For other HU's the CANbus connects to several modules in the car:
BCM (brake control module) - for volume adjustment depending on speed
SWM (steering wheel control module) - control via steering wheel buttons
CEM (central electronic module) - luminance of display and lighting; diagnostics codes from HU to car
PHM (phone module) - mutes HU when integrated carphone is used
AEM (accessory electronics module) - HU mute when handsfree is connected; backup gear detection in case of backup warning system (park assist)

Re: HU-1205 on V40, 1999, few wires contact places missed, (mrg_Ed)

If anyone else is interested in this, here are photos of my connector: (s40 1,9 diesel, year '03, HU-655)

Please note, it is mirror-turned!

Numbers goes like this, and they are written on the connector itself:
A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6
A7 A8 A9 A10 A11 A12

As you can see, wiring is all the same. Except that I have wires A7 and A8, but no A6.

I tried to connect A6 to ground, and I can confirm the phone mute works here too! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
