      what does "GLT" mean??

this may seem like a dumb question.. but what exactly does "GLT" stand for? as in "850 GLT" were the turbos ever badged as GLT's? ir if it was a 850 turbo does it always say "turbo" on the back?

      thanks

97-00 GLT's were light pressure turbos
96 was an 850 turbo and in 96 the GLT was a non turbo, trim only option

Another possibility: GLT = Good Luck Trying (to keep up w/ my T5M)

Not dumb at all. It stands for Grand Lux Touring.

...sure, if you consider "close" a handful of car lengths in the 1/4! I'm running the IPD Stage III plus a few more goodies! (all in fun, u know!)

Found your turbo, though, huh? Post new videos once you get it set up & go have more fun at the track. You'll see lots of faces when your "Grand Lux Touring" wagon smokes some more V8's!

What is exactly is, "a few more goodies"?

I still have to go pick it up, it's not out of the parts car yet. I'm looking forward to installing it myself. I'm going to for sure bring it to my mechanic and have him check over it before I actually do any real driving. It'll sure be a learning experience. I'm hoping to do a nice little write up with lots of pictures.

my ultimate goal with dp, and R mani is 300hp. I'm hoping Oliver at speedtuning will help me out with that and take advantage of all the parts with a custom tune. I may have to throw some more stuff at it to reach the goal, but i'll reach it! Just wish there were some more dynos around my area so I can get a baseline and see the difference. I guess the track times will have to do for now, I can almost taste the 13s

hey i broke into the 14s with the 13G, that's a feat on it's own!

GLTs may be slower up top, but for around town they're 5 times the fun of a HPT.

It was actually used more on older VOlvo's such as the 240 series turbo models, and all the GLT's back then had turbos. They were avail. as sedans and wagons.

It's rather misleading to have the newer 850's with the same badge, but no turbo

This is an old discussion, but do your homework & you'll find that the 850 GLT DOES have a turbo....just a little itty bitty one!

      Ah......NOPE, just 1997's
1995 and 1995 850 GLT's do NOT have a turbo, that would be the 850 turbo.
In 1997 850GLT's had the LPT (new engine for 97) and there was the 850 T5 (HPT).
      Suggest YOU continue YOUR homework

1995 and 1996 I suggest it may be Grand Luxury TURD (only 168 hp)!

I stand corrected. Those GLT's are TOO slow anyway , not worth any more "homework". HPT FTW.
